So his parents were around St. Louis in the early 1800S.

His father was PAY-MASTER for US Army Unit stationed there at Jefferson Barracks, yes.
Father: George Christian Hutter married Harriet James Risque (mother) 7/6/1830.

That's sort of what I'm working up to. I do think it's possible, if not likely, that the author was related to the Buford family. But there is another suspect who was actually in Richmond at the time (1862) attending to important business who had the background, formal education, and the historical association to have written the story. This would be Algernon Sidney Buford, this Buford family being directly related to the Bedford area Bufords. What do you know of his father, John? This arm of the Buford family was from western Virginia, or what would later become Kentucky. This being in close proximity to the Thomas Beale who had simply registered himself as being from China.

What's interesting here is why Virginia territory was later divided and the difference of political principles that existed.

The annexation of West Virginia from Virginia came about over the very conflict you speak of.

The important business Algernon Sidney Buford was conducting in Richmond during the 2nd year of the Confederate War was running the Virginia Depot for the Confederacy. After the War,he was involved with the Danville Railroad. Now who and what was in Danville, April 1865? Oh, yes, CSA Pres Davis and cabinet and the remaining Confederate treasury.

True....and I've never argued that. In fact, if my theory is correct/accurate, then Algernon Sidney is quite suspect. In 1862 the Confederacy was suffering financially, this largely in part to their failing attempt to draw France and the British into the war. So in 1862 the Confederacy was looking for major money and resources. We're told in the Beale story it was only after the arranging for interview that the author was told the story, this hinting that the author had actually reached out to Morriss and not the other way around. Algernon Sidney's family heritage and their close proximity to Thomas Beale of China claim makes him very, very suspect, indeed.

John had brothers named Thomas Jefferson Buford, James Monroe Buford, and Napoleon Bonaparte Buford. Sort of tells you where the families allegiance lay. John and his brother, Napoleon Bonaparte Buford, were Civil War generals (Union).

CSA Sec of State, Judah P Benjamin, through John Slidel (both KGC members)had secured a line of credit/loan from the French Rothschild Bank, and in 1862,the CSA Treasury had over $15,000,000 in their coffers. Now late 1864 and 1865 they were in dire straights, a cause for the Richmond riots.

It's all about political differences, the measuring of the governing principles that shaped the country. So strong were these differences that it divided families and even states, such as Virginia, Kentucky and West Virgina resulting from these same differences. These same differences existed in 1817-1821 and they were a major concern in regards to the Louisiana Purchase and the division of that immense territory. So the Buford family had witnessed it all, had participated in a great deal of it all, had enough insight to go back two hundred years just to latch onto the name Algernon Sidney. The Beale story revolves around Buford's tavern.

Then tell me where his mother was when he was born.:icon_scratch:

OK, yer correct; NOT "connected" to TJB, etc. of "Beale era" (1817-1822). Was following your "posts" of 24 & 33... ANYONE can "google" George Christian Hutter, US ARMY Career.
