Morning Pepper.

ANTIQUARIAN I was just looking at your plate that you got banner on, how did you clean that up, the last pics it looks great and was wondering if I should do similar?

First off... good morning All!

I use a variable speed bench polisher with a very fine brass wire wheel on one side and a soft buffing wheel on the opposite side.
I've become pretty good over the past 10 years at removing the corrosion with the brass wire wheel, but keeping the 'aged look'.
After I use the wire wheel, I then wash the piece with soap and water and let it dry thoroughly.
I then brush on some Conservator's Preservation Wax, let it dry for a few hours, I then lightly buff it on the soft polisher wheel.

Here are some before and after examples of my brass relic finds from 2019 - 20 that I've restored using this method.

Congrats again on your buckle find,
Dave

You have to protect those chicks Jim, otherwise you'll be buying your eggs at the grocery store again. :laughing7:

Thanks very much Toe, a lot of trial and error when into learning how to not 'over-restore' the relics.

Off to work now guys, have a great day! :icon_salut:

Hey Dave, now I know where I can send a few lbs of finds to for a clean up.:laughing7:
Nice work my friend. :icon_thumright:

Morning Toe.

Grocery stores sell eggs?:icon_scratch:
It was the Fox, Mink, Racoon, Turkey Buzzard, Eagle, neighbor's rat killing Jack Russell dog, Fisher, now the coyote, plus the larger Rat Snakes a month ago. Geez everything is looking for a free lunch.
