HBP,

If it's a storage type battery I've seen people using a stationery bicycle set up to recharge the battery.

Like you're new wheels ARC

It depends on what you need the battery for. I've built one or two a while ago.

Well, I was thinking. If somerhing happened, although I doubt it would get that bad, unless you are talking nukes, a shortwave radio will end up being the most reliable means of communication. But hand helds rely on a battery.
Guess a storage type could be adapted but eventually they won't take a charge.
If things got really bad, batteries might be a form of currency along with ammo. But that is really unlikely.
Just was thinking about stuff.

Been building a new sea chest baitwell system. Finally got it plumbed and permanently installed in the bilge. Getting ready for the bahamas this spring. Just got wiring and switch installation tomorrow.

I recommend the "GOING HOME" book series by A American, about survival of a small Lake county Florida community after an EMP strike. Contains good information on adapting and creating items for survival under these conditions, and actual locations in Lake county and the Ocala National Forest are depicted in these novels.

HPB,

They're pricey but lithium storage batteries can be recharged over and over for like 500 times. Somebody or other was buying lithium used batteries that we're used in hospitals as backup in the event of a power failure that were almost new. Something to think about.
