Read the book "Ultra Processed People" and it will make more sense. You and I would make those cookies out of flour, sugar, butter, chocolate chips, etc. But the commercial food producers don't do that. They use the most profitable (ie cheapest) ingredients, which will likely be low quality flour that is "enriched", probably high fructose corn syrup instead of sugar, probably some refined tasteless oil in place of butter, separated cocoa butter and cocoa instead of plain chocolate, etc. That lets them get the "perfect" proportions of all ingredients, at the most profitable price. But all that stuff doesn't necessarily have the same taste and feel as the "real" ingredients would, so they add artificial flavors to make it taste right, artificial colors to make it look right, emulsifiers and gums to make it feel right, and then of course stabilizers and preservatives so it will last forever on the shelf (because spoiled product is not profitable). The thing that amazes me about it is that they can do all that and it's cheaper than just using the real ingredients to start with.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go bake some (real) cookies.
It just amazes me...
  • The Girl Scouts say their cookies are safe and meet FDA standards.

  • The cookies are baked by licensed bakers who follow FDA and EPA standards.

  • The levels of metals and glyphosate found in Girl Scout cookies are not a safety concern.

  • You would need to eat a large amount of cookies to exceed regulatory tolerance levels.

    • Glyphosate is commonly used in agriculture and is found in many foods, including baked goods.
    • In California, businesses must warn consumers if they are knowingly exposing them to certain chemicals found in food.
Additional information
    • Girl Scout cookies may contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
    • Cookie recipes and names may vary by location. For example, Samoas may be called Caramel DeLites in some states.

You're right.
I made this crunchy chocolate slice the other day. 70% coco chocolate, unsalted full cream butter, copher, muesli and a secret ingredient 🤐

Why remind me of my age? You are a terrible Viking, yes.
They played in a prison once. Could you imagine that happening these days!?
You guys had some do it too early days. But now.... outrageous!
Saw so many of those early Oz groups at tiny venues, 100 to 200 people and sometimes Pie Nights! Meat Pies served half way through the night, with cheap "Pots" large beer glasses. They were some funny fun days for sure.😁
