I didn't expect that,......... in the movies your area is nice and sunny, moonshiners shooting it out
with the feds,....... fun for the whole family.

Lemme put it to you this way. Wednesday it was 60, now there is two or three inches of snow on the ground. It'll be back up into the 50s next week.

This coming summer, temps can soar up to 100, with 90%+ humidity. Rain could either be scarce or non-stop, giving it a tropical feel. Late march it'll be 60, early April will be about 80. It's like a roller coaster around here.

Funny you should mention moonshiners... There's a spring about forty yards behind our house that was used for moonshining during prohibition.

That kind of climate I paste wax my firearms.
Especially my 30-30,..... it's nearly white.

After some coats of paste wax water just bounces off.

The climate you just spelled out is very tough on firearms.

Goodnight "cool people" of Treasurenet...

Kentucky has always appealed to me for clime when traveling to Florida and back.
Tennessee is a bit too far South for heat and things that bite.

Could probably hide a still here. Depending on the wind , and the neighbors noses...

Rusty,
Good job on the painting is the charcoal or oil paints not being an artsy type don't really have a good eye for the medium being used.

Bart,

It has a good ring to it.....you'd have to fly the Jolly Roger flag and offer up some of the rum you and your buddies are distilling. It would be a hit for sure.

Instead of touristy food have some local chefs cook up traditional Bahamian dishes like they eat at home. That way you could swing both the touristy crowd with the real deal food as well as the locals.

Did I ever tell you I had a bit of marketing b.s. in me... I mean experience......:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

How does capt. Black barts chart house sound !!

Packing for the Bahamas.....let's see...clothes, passport, equinox. That should do it....maybe a tooth brush.
======
I agree Bart, you should take toothpaste :icon_thumleft:

You want to make sure that those teeth are bright, when you find that "Treasure" ALL those news outlets will be sticking their cameras in your face. :laughing7:

I too hope to see pictures........... AND to see you on the news, ( with a discovery ).

Hey Bill :hello:

I think Sadie has changed Rooks hours :laughing7:

Rusty,

Don't know if I mentioned this before but my wife paints and also teaches. Lately she's been doing colored pencil drawings and scratch art. Neat stuff!

That's cool! I remember seeing a drawing by her once, but that was a while ago.

I paint too, but not in a while. I'm planning on doing a Confederate something or other at Fredericksburg soon.

Bart,

Here's a video for Bahamian peas and rice make sure it's on the menu of that pirate restaurant.....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

I'm related to Zachery Taylor the 12th President. His daughter married Jefferson Davis which means i'm related to somewhat.
==========

That is interesting GB. Last fall I was going through records and files left me by my parents and I remember seeing we had a link to Jefferson Davis also. I could have sworn that I also saw that Jefferson Davis had a link to one of the Kings of England :dontknow:. Or the tie to King of England was part of an advertisement from Ancestry.com to encourage their "DNA" test. I will try and find that file and when I do I will P.M. the info to you, who knows, we may be distant cousins or something.

Lol! Hello Simon, ya caught me! I was playing catch up. I think that bouy we hit on the rum run was me! Fell out of the boat again!

"Guns

It is not difficult to keep guns from rusting aboard a small boat even if they are handled occasionally. The trick is to give them a coat of white shellac over the outside of all metal parts. This trick I learned from a Cape Cod gunner who shot over salt water. First you must clean the metal ver carefully, then wipe it with alcohol; next, without touching the metal, give it a thin even coat of shellac. In the fall when you lay the boat up the shellac can be easily removed by wiping the metal parts with a rag wet with alcohol. To preserve the inner parts, I find pure sperm whale oil much the best. ." Sensible Cruising Designs, L. Francis Herrshoff 1973

Paste wax works too! :thumbsup:
