Not in my world again, as I can sing "It's raining again"
Probably it will clear at dusk for the stars as it has been doing lately.
The week ahead-yes that reminds me to charge the equipment and start planning for a little road trip hunt.

Yes for sure I'll be checking the list twice.
Not impossible to be digging with a hand digger. But it gets tiring after awhile.

Good morning all.

I didn't get to do any detecting yesterday, because I spent most of the day working on the truck. I got it tore down as far as it needs to be. Here it is with the valve covers and front cover off, finally.



I can't really tell yet whether the timing chain jumped a tooth (I'll know when I put the new chains on and set the time...), but if not, it was just a matter of time. The chain on the drivers side was floppy loose -- the tensioner seems to have failed. And the chain had starting cutting a groove in the oil pump (that shiny diagonal line at the upper right). Not good.



I got a new oil pump and fought for an hour to get the pickup tube bolts back in there, only to realize later that I had forgotten to put oil in the new pump, so I have to pull it back off again. I'm not looking forward to that, but, it's my own fault. Haste makes waste, and sometimes makes you do it over.
