Okay. Idioms.

When your falcon comes back with a rabbit and perches back on your gauntlet then drops the rabbit in your free hand, you are done hunting and you need to secure the bird before you start walking back to your castle. The way to secure a hawk is to hitch the hawks leashes, which are attached to birds leg above the talons, to your gauntlet. This is done with a loosely tied knot. You tie the leash to the pinky finger of your gloved hand. And, now, the bird is-

"Wrapped around your little finger"

So when you put a ring on your future wife's hand...

Everybody knows what you mean but nobody remembers why, hence the term has become an idiom. If you are fresh off the boat idioms are nonsensical. If you can think the phrases through in context they may be vague but they are decipherable.
