Seems like the continued fishing in the cold, wet, rough Gulfstream has drained my energy and immune system. The long cold days covered in sea spray and fighting the wind have left me drained, sick, and exhausted. Combine a normal work load and crazy holiday schedule and im ready to drop. Don't know of I have covid, flu, or just a cold but the cold weather makes me forget to drink water.....this led to some bad dehydration last night, and severe cramping in my legs hands and feet. Have to cancel fishing and take a lay day to rest......I won't test for covid or anything else......it is what it is and the treatments for a cold the flu, or anything else are all about the same, so ill treat it like any other sickness I've ever had. So it's light duty cleaning up the fishing mess and twisting steel fishing leaders for the king fish......hope everyone else is feeling better than I am
It’s okay to take a day off. You’re not the spring chicken you used to be. It’s been a stressful couple of years for the whole world and I know that wears a body down. I hope you are feeling better soon! If not…..

I for one can say... this past year has been a weird one.
The anxiety levels are definitely higher these days.

Micro managing them is key.
Taking a breath and re-setting is one way to start the whole down-winding.

I live and work to serve the tourists.....now is the busiest time of the year. The job I have is a coveted one.....many people are in line just waiting for me to leave them an opening so they can get there foot in the door. Take to many days off and your on permanent vacation looking for a new job. This the nature of a dream job.....everyone wants your position. Ill not take a day off, but I'll do light duty.....lucky for me the wind is 20kts from the northeast, and seas are running at 6-8 foot at 3 second intervals.....no one wants to go out in those conditions. So I can take a breath and clean up the destruction on the boats from 3 days of heavy seas !!

Damnit ! !! my plan was to get Barts spot.

:P

It's just been an intense grind starting back in mid October.......I've got a big trip on the 17th of January through the 25th. And then at some point I'll be on the 6 week grind of filming this treasure show. I think I get jealous of everyone around me moving at half speed on there Christmas break......when you own your own business and work for yourself there is no break.....its just the way it is. Watching everyone else do nothing for day after day does get frustrating......no one else cares if you got to get up and work.....so everyone is in full party mode disrupting my whole routine.....CHRISTMAS IS OVER.... !!

Oh no! It's never over. Party on!

More work than there is Bart seems possible.
And if you delegate work it won't get done right.
So you do the work of two (maybe three) super Barts because you have a big S on your shirt.
Performance based. Riding off in three directions at once. Been there. A young man's game.

Simple pleasures. Do they still exist? If so , how do you carve out Bart time to enjoy them?

Get back up to full power Bart. Spend a little less than full capacity after. Or be too drained before recharging.

Woke up to a throbbing head banger :headbang:
The mrs is blaming me sitting down too much-guilty as charged.
Needing a rest-gain some weight-take a breather.
(Imagine that one-wanting to gain weight):laughing7:
Though I was thinking the same thing-rust is forming on the undercarriage for this idleness.

Looking for battery operated gloves-what a rabbit hole adventure this has turned into.
I could of had them for the past 45 yrs just didn't get around to wanting something as fancy as that.
Price isn't an issue as they're fully covered under my compensation file.
They range from $30-475 and the reviews are really mixed
Greatest pair I've ever worn:hello2: to the They suck, don't buy them :BangHead:.
So much for the reviews, as I'm still :dontknow:

I hate buying online-how can one tell actually how something fits, if one can actually use them in the daily routine.
The Mrs says they look really stiff-good eye on that one dear.

Loved this review: Ordered a size larger than what I usually take-sent them back-too small.
Ordered another larger size yet XL-it fit my 120 lb wife's hand.
Gloves were sent back

Ok Pepper thoughts:
Either the 120lb Mrs had huge hands-or this company uses little hands for sizing.

"Chopper" mittens over a pair of light gloves might be worth a try. Sheepskin , sherpa (fake wool), wool are optional linings.
My last pair are long gone but fingers stayed warmer that way.
Till mitts were pulled off too long working on something...

I have/had many different styles makes and models over the years.
These are probably the best mitts I have, 25 yrs old moose hide with curly lamb inside.
Still the hands get cold.
The right one from loosing 3 fingers, rebuild of 2 = a circulation issue.
Dead thumb for feelings, but like a thermometer for temps.
40F I do ok, freezing and below I grumble.

I know you ain't going to move to a warmer clime...

How about small "bean bags" made out of scrap cloth and filled with dry rice to microwave and use instead of disposable heat packs?
Or a small hot potato wrapped in foil? l.o.l..

I'd get hungry eat the potato-then get frost bite.
Haven't used a microwave in decades.

@releventchair , those are adorable pics!

I predict cold hands continuing...
:laughing7:

Heated vests (rechargeable battery type) have been gaining in popularity among hunters lately.
Keeping thier core body temp up seems to help with extremities. Without over bulking material on extremities but still insulating thier head and neck / radiators.

To totally honest here.
I would really have to swallow hard to buy/support Amazon.
Many times I will look for price checks-but we're kind of old school in supporting the bricks and mortar.

Then again certain items aren't available in small city Ontario.
It takes a hour to go to the big city of Kingston-55-60 mile round trip
We order things from stores-they deliver for free.
So it's a savings of fuel and a 1/2 day.

Well I sprained the ring middle finger joint trying to install a temp. window casing in the shop. 13 ft up and over top of the steel shelving. ( Thanks to the high wind storm last weekend kind of shredded the plastic )
So this feels really productive just using the pinky finger to hold onto things.

45F out this PM-the hoop house was a snuggly 64F Could of taken a nap in there almost. :laughing7:
