So in a huge storm there is a surge, and it can be at various heights.
The west coast of Fl the surge is happening.
Does the opposite side of the gulf experience a lower drop of tide?

Well a weather report just said that the water was actually going down In Tampa bay due t to othe wind direction from the Hurricane

Using that logic, And looking at the wind direction I would guess that from about Miami on up the water is pushing out and up towards the north. And possibly causing a higher tide on the northern east coast of Florida. Just my guess.
