Very cool!!! Get a fire safe, heirlooms are priceless. I have three clocks that were my grandparents and great grandparents... The are running 100 + years old.Going to have to show a precious treasure once I'm done cleaning it up, nothing found but given to me. I was lucky enough to be given my grandmas original wedding band. She had two. One she got when she married my grandpa and wore till he got her a new one and had the diamond put in the newer one. They were together 65 years when he passed. I'm very thankful to have it as my grandma was so important to me.
That's awesome, my family didn't manage to keep much going back all that far. I think a hand made table from my grandmother's parents, and I think some plates from them not sure.Very cool!!! A lot f people I know did not save heirlooms. Lack of space, dislike of antiques... yeh I see that a lot... I still have a cedar chest that my great grandfather built for my grandmother as a wedding present! Small things are easier to save. I'm an ony child and an only grandchild... so...That's awesome, my family didn't manage to keep much going back all that far. Yes! The meaning is the value. My grandmother's ring. Nothing fancy and at the time my grandpa was young and in the military so they didn't have much at the start. Still going to be very important to me though.

I want to fully restore it. Part that is going to suck is the original stone was diamond. Couldn't of been a overly expensive one as my grandpa didn't have much back then so I'll hope for that lolYes! The meaning is the value.
One of my clocks was a weeks wages for my great grandpa. It still keeps perfect time (when you remember to wind it...) and is just gorgeous!I want to fully restore it. My Dad had 7 sisters, when they got done going through my Grandads stuff wasn,t much left. But,before he died he had me come over and personally gave me all his guns.In front of them.I was the Grandson who stayed home and took care of him you see.All the rest ran off to the big cities and only came home every other Christmas or so when he was well. I stayed where I was born, where my Granddad was.Loved that man! He had a fine sense of humor and irony!A lot f people I know did not save heirlooms. Those old clocks are amazing pieces of engineering, craftsmanship, and art work. Built so much better back than. All I find is parts of them when out metal detecting. Mostly the gears or plate that held the gears all in order. The house I know of thst burnt down way back when must have had a few I find the gears and plates all overOne of my clocks was a weeks wages for my great grandpa. I never got to have that kind of opportunity. I was with my grandma through the worst time, there daily. But dementia took everything away from her. I still though found joy is giving her chocolates and sweets her favorite things and the smile it'd bring even in the worst of her dementia. I was glad to be able to bring her that happiness.
