Grinders will getcha if you,re not careful.Sometimes even if you are careful. I almost became a soprano once because of a grinder that broke a disc, jammed, and flew out of my hands still running. 2 inches higher and the boys would have been bye bye. Still got the scars on the inside of my thigh.
My second grinder story is the same....standing in front of a coworker when disk came free....metal diamond disc bounced once on the hard top....it just whiffed my nuts, while tearing the crotch of my pants.....it streaked down the asphalt out of site.....unbelievably there was no damage to the family jewels....or the sack there in !! :laughing7::laughing7::thumbsup:

SO LUCKY !!

Crash, I never told anybody on here but thought I would tell you. I once tried out for Chippendale and made it to final 2. Was barely beat out by this other guy. Nice guy so did not bother me much.
Have you seen the movie / show / special 2 night about them ? ? ?

The wire wheel can beat the grinder down... it doesnt happen often... but it can catch something like say... a rusty multitool ...

And shoot that crap into the wall.... RIGHT pass my face once.

Had it catch something and wail it so many times,

Love that sucker though... use it daily.

Home builds were the grinders of my youth.
No tool rests. No belt guards. Just an old electric motor and belt , switch and double sided arbor.

Still get pangs from turning one on one day and about the time it hit top R.P.M. a stout piece of wire about six inches long flew out and stuck in the pocket of my left shoulder.
It didn't want to pull out willingly, but came out.
I knew who had been using it prior and ran him down for a hardest punch of appreciation . Before telling him why...

Guy in school metal shop approached the wire wheel when I was on an adjacent grinder.
I suggested he tuck in that long teeshirt but he said he was fine.
A minute later he panicked when the wheel snatched his shirt and was rolling it up. Grabbed his shirt and pulled for all he was worth. Stopped the wheel , motor humming and I suggested he hit the stop switch.
Then laughed at his dirty holed up tee hanging to his knees in the front.

We sold Dads homemade grinder/wire wheel.
I almost felt bad , but hindsite said let it go..

Man those pills are strong !! Never had an addiction problem with painkillers, but dang are they enjoyable when prescribed !! All my normal pains go away too !! At least for a few days.
Errr... ?

Watch it... i dont even take them anymore... for anything... i gotta be in some serious pain... otherwise its just advil for me... which is next to never... which never is still too often IMO

Yeah... and i have had three 2 inch hooks through one finger already ... that was fun...

Crab trap tied off on seawall property fence kept me in knee deep seawater dripping blood like a fountain screaming my head off to be rescued because there was not enough line to make it up the dock steps.

Then there were the dull wire cutters... arrrrg.

Believe me this memory went all back through my head the second that lure gut jammed up in that wire wheel.

Then the thought... "wtf... am i a moron" was the next thought.

Friggin rusty hooks beyond belief as well... hence the thought of "polishing em up with the wire wheel "...

This is the trap... errr a picture of style rather.

I put three big hooks in center SO chicken would not float / carried / ripped away...

I went to check it and pulled up quick... chicken meat was gone... hooks were danglingout bottom...

Got frustrated that they wree still stealing the meat... So i grabbed bottom corner and tossed it out in water out of frustrated.

Off with the trap i went... DUE to my finger being hooked... not by one... BUT ALL THREE hooks... ALL THE WAY through...

Around the finger bone.... heh

Granpa... AKA "The Colonel" heard me... comes out... says "hold it down ill be right back"

Returns with a small pair of wire cutters. :/

Luckily he was a very strong man.

37 years AF retired after Nam.
