Morning WD and Rook

Goord morning, rook, Pepper, Bart, Bill, ARC, and whoever else I missed.

Bart... a suggestion for your 8x setup.

Run the coil wire straight up shaft then coil around shaft as high as possible... (leave a small arc in wire near coil to avoid any tensions with movements)

Current setup interferes with the performance.

This not only applies to these... but ALL detectors.

Coil the extra wire AS FAR away from the search coil as possible... every half an inch achieved... especially on short shaft setup counts.

Remember...

Wire IS made of METALS... coiling it near the search coil only detracts from the coil.

Hope this help you find the mother load.

:)

Yes, ARC. That is a good tip for me. I never heard that. Mine is set for super short person, so I have a lot of wire wrapped around the shaft.

What I really need now is a glass detector.

Thanks, RC for the research. I am going out to start the big dig. Gonna take me years, I know. Don't drink all the rum!

Passing this on to the Florida crew:

A Lost Item Report has been issued for a lost wedding ring in Amelia Island, Florida.

ARC,

I use those hardware plastic ties to keep the coil wire from flopping around also. Some people tend to get false signals due to the coil wire flopping about.

Your right ARC !! Im gonna make those mods tomorrow morn.....ill have to go down to the boat and check, but I think its set up like you say....every tip helps....thanks cap !!:occasion14: the rum is on me !!

We're having mediterranean tonight....I whipped up some baba ganoush with an eggplant we have. I'll slice up some tomatoes and some other odds and end. We'll heat up some pita bread and probably some cheese for protein.

Correct... this is the way.

BUT !

Use only ties that DO NOT have the metal tab... use all plastic ones... some have the metal tab inside them... some have a plastic one.

USE only plastic tabbed ones.

For two reasons... the first being obvious... the second will also become obvious after i type this...

They dont rust away and then give.

This is very important when in and around any salt water.

I will also throw you this "bone"...

No where is it written in stone that the coil wires have to be wrapped around the shaft of any detector.

With that said...

I have used so many configs its not funny.

And settled long ago with NO wrapping of coil wire...

Instead i do a loop just below box and zip top and bottom of loop... a soft circle works perfect... up and outta the way.. and if i ever want to adjust... i am not sitting there "unwrapping" forever etc...

Instead again... IF i need to adjust OR change something... LIKE the shaft length etc...

I just use my trusty skinny clipper and cut the zips and WAH LAH ! ! !

PS...NEVER EVER... leave home without a few extra zips... they work wonders for a multitude of things... from rig repairs to a tourniquet.

:)

Here is my current set up. Its been 20210916_163554.webpmore than good to me. Ilike the vibra phone set up !! Dug deep rebar all day....sometimes 3 1/2 feet in the mud sea bed. Left in situ for future wreck hunters !! To big and to much to clean up without a monumental effort....and the money to fund it !! 32 ft. Deep hawk chanel soft sillty marl/mud. 2 ft visibility until you dig then 0 vis....very dark and scary. All touchy feely with my partner....grab his hand and put it in hole so he can find it and help dig. Then head down in hole digging !! Scary stuff the zero visability !!

Ever do something really dumb that got you hurt?

Today I was putting in T-posts by hand. For those of you who don't know how that's done, we use a 25 lb. steel tube that goes over the post, and has two handles on either side so you can lift up and thrust down to hammer in the post. It's a great way to build muscle.

I don't know what the hell happened, but somehow I lifted the hammer too high, and instead of hitting the post, I glanced off of it and cracked myself on the head with it. So picture a 25 lb. steel tube being thrown at your head with force, which is exactly what happened. I momentarily blacked out, fell to the ground, came too and was cussing all sorts of words. I was making up words. I was rolling on the ground, tears rolling down my face, holding onto my head, just cussing a blue streak, and both my mom and dad are trying to help.

Even now hours later, I still have a slight headache, and my neck feels slightly tingly to the touch. It felt much worse earlier. Tomorrow I get checked on by Doc Sawbones and see what she has to say.

Dang rusty....careful my man...maybe you got a mild concussion? I would go see sawbones !!

I think I have a mild concussion. My brain functioning, memory, balance, coordination is all good. Just have a head ache and tingling if I touch my front throat. When we called the doc, she says that it is a sign of a mild cuncussion, but is not dangerous and I should be fine in a few days. I'm still going to the office tomorrow for a hands on inspection however.

Hungry?
