Was it better than fried water?
I did the trade for the silver signet ring and the Hubley motorcycle yesterday. I also picked up the silver ring at the jeweler that I found a couple of weeks ago.
A fellow detectorist in British Columbia mailed me the garnet and I had the jewellery mount it.
I also picked up the brass candlestick finger loop that I found in August, I had my initial etched onto the face.
I hand-filed, sanded and tumbled it for 4 days it before taking it to the jeweler.
Here are pics of the finished product, I've posted all of the before and after pics here... http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/everything-else/622622-gifs-pics-more-493.html#post6610213
Dave,
Great restore work on the rings!
The final results are very nice Dave Congrats.
Gee if I was still in the GTA I could of hooked you up with a plating company that would silver plated the brass one for you.
Really nice, Antiquarian.
Mornin all.
Nice bling Dave!
The candle stick ring might top them all.
Former utilitarian item fell to ruin , now repurposed and still in use...
Reminds me of kettle material being repurposed.
And/or caches of metal bits found that were banked for repurpose.
Congrats on all the rings though.
Thanks very much Bill.
That's an interesting idea Jim, I last used a family-owned plating company in Scarborough about 15 years ago. I doubt if they're even still in business.
There was a company down on Carlaw, south of Eastern Ave, Mayfair Plating. I used them for polishing when I was restoring early lighting & oil lamps back in the 90s.
Thank you WD.
Thanks WP.
