Rusty,

I didn’t realize we had mass graves like that. I don’t suppose there are any names, are there?

The mass grave you see here, was dug by a local farmer, H.P. Bottom. (more on him later).

He dug two long, wide trenches, then he himself, carted the dead bodies of 400 slain Confederate soldiers to this place on his farm. He tried to ID some, but Confederates never really had any ID on them. Out of 400, he only found 37 names.

So my hunt yesterday with my buddy Marty was a 4 out of 10 on the sliding scale. Beautiful place. We started on the side of the home we didn't hit the last time there. Marty was digging something iron and found a clay jug top. The finger hole part. I was scratch at that time. Lots of iron. Finally I hit a 93. Dime. Modern. For the next 31/2 hours I begged for a good pull tad signal. At the end I did dig a 1/2 of a axe head. As we were leaving, Mike the owner said he had let others detect there. Bummer. But Marty did retrieve a gold pendant at the mail box. A good way to leave I guess.
