The Many Lost Treasures of Mariposa, CA (Photos Added)

Lanny and Garret..........What can I say, but a resounding THANK YOU FOR YOUR POSTS!!!!

I have spent a lifetime on a path of service to others. So, what else is there to do with the knowledge I've garnered along the way? BUT, I do not GIVE IT AWAY! For, as you know Lanny, the rewards are truly enormous! what better balm for the Spirit than the reward of knowing that you have helped as many along your path as you possibly can?

I may not have enough money to repair my vehicle, but Spiritually, my coffers overflow.

Love and Respect,

Eagle

Words can't describe this man's heart. I consider myself honored to even have crossed his path.

I am so very sorry to hear this news. I was very afraid that something bad had occured as he always returned my messages, My heart is broken, and my prayers go out to gentle soul who will be greatly missed. Over the great divide, heavy pans my friend.

Just to let you all know Eagle has passed away I am sure he would like everyone to continue posting here as they discover new treasures in and around Mariposa as he loved hearing everyones stories I am being told their will be a service for

Seriously? Say it aint so...

I have been monitoring the recent posts to this thread. I checked my email earlier and noticed I got an email from Eagle today. I came back here to post that he's still kicking and this is what I'm reading? Is it really true? Though I did not yet get a chance to meet him, this really shocks me... I know he was having some health issues in recent months. We had corresponded off and on about his book. Eagle and this thread are the _reason_ I joined TreasureNet...

I agree with BurntBear - this man seemed to have a huge heart and was very friendly. I know he has met up with other Tnet folks and we had discussed going nugget shooting once his health stabilized. I feel as though we have all lost a prospecting mentor and friend. I still can't believe it. I'm truly at a loss and feel for his family.

Really lousy news was hoping to get another chance in time to meet up again with Eagle and do some prospecting, great man! took time to show us places on the merced river and tell storys of his past, Thank you Eagle RIP

Its true everyone, he passed away from heart failure at Saint Agnes in Fresno 9/29/2014 at around 10:30pm...

As most of you know I was really close with Eagle...the news is true.

Eagle you been a great friend and mentor to me brother, I will miss you dearly... Rest in peace my friend.

Oh wow :( I just got to the last page after reading your posts for about a year off and on.. I was composing a hello from new Zealand and now it seems Im wishing you the best in the afterlife.. thank you eagle for you wisdom and humour.. And I too wanted a couple of your books/biography.. Best wishes for his family and friends :(

This confirms what I was afraid of. GB so sorry for your loss, I know Eagle thought a lot of you and vice versa. It is a sad, sad day indeed.

Who is taking care of Flash?!
Flash is staying with his landlord, flash had puppies...there's only one left but it seems best that they stay together...i though of taking her but i'm moving back to seattle and flash needs to stay out in the mountains...plus Kat, Eagles land lord has grown attached to Flash and has been taking care of her and Eagle for some time now.

I will let everyone know as soon as I know, as to when his ashes will be spread down at the merced river... everyone is welcome to come, i just hope that i'm still in the area...i only have a couple of weeks down here before I need to head back.

words cannot express the sadness that is felt at knowing that a great man and even greater adventurer has left us. my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and those closest to him. i know this sounds selfish but i wish he had finished his book so that when we read it, we can still have him around.

well the book may still get finished I am going to ask gold bag as well as his good friend Roger if they would like to collaborate to finish putting it together as he was almost finished writing and just needed to pay for publishing last time I was at his house so we will see if Goldbag Roger and myself can put that together as I am sure all his loyal readers would love a piece of Eagles memory The thing I am most sad about is that last month when I saw Eagle we were supposed to go out last weekend and his exact words were "The last thing Im going to do before I die is strike it rich" and he didnt get the chance to finish that goal that is what most saddens me.

It is with great and profound sadness that I receive this unwelcome news.

Eagle was truly unique in his generosity to share his wisdom of prospecting and indeed, the priceless knowledge of his life lessons as well. Moreover, he was a good and loyal friend. I have met no other quite like him.

His gift of telling a story is legend.

In fact, I met him because of this fantastic thread of his, as well as through his private messages and phone calls. We conspired together on our forum threads to reach out to as many as possible.

What a loss in my life it would have been if I'd never met him, and this comforting knowledge helps somewhat with the much greater loss of his person.

I can only imagine the depth of him family's loss at this time, and my sympathies extend to them all and to those of you that called him friend.

I called Eagle from time to time to see how he was doing after his earlier heart attack, and he was always the most gracious and welcoming person, a true gentleman. Furthermore, he acted as if he'd known me his entire life--he had that gift of making me feel instantly comfortable and valued.

This is a sad, sad day for me, this lonesome day when I took a moment to catch-up on TNET.

His loss is a profound loss for this forum, for his family, indeed an irreplaceable loss.

Eagle:

I'll keep my eye out for you, my brother, when I walk the silent paths under the vast blue heavens of the great forests of the majestic mountains. I'll look for you whenever I dip a pan in the crystal streams of the rushing waters you loved so much, and I'll watch closely for you looking over my shoulder Eagle when Mother Nature gives up a nugget or two of her precious gold. . . .

All the best,

Lanny

Please let us know if there is any way we can help in publishing his book. Digital or print. -Luke

Wow, I'm heartbroken, sad and empty. I never really got a chance to meet Eagledown face to face. Talked with him a few times on the phone and certainly hoped to meet up with him in the future. His creation of this thread was a huge inspiration for me in pursuing treasure hunting and prospecting. I'm can say nothing close to what I'm feeling. He will be truly missed and in my heart and mind. My frequent trips to the Merced river will be different from this point forward.

My heart goes out to those who knew him more so than I.

I am not really sure what to say other than I wish I had met him years ago. I enjoyed the few times we got together and I will miss him.

We could have everyone bring buckets of KFC extra crispy, that seemed to be a favorite.
