The Many Lost Treasures of Mariposa, CA (Photos Added)

Hi, congrats on quitting smoking. I have quit at least 10 times, the last one was in 1975 when cigs went to $1.00 in the vending machines.

ALL OF THEM !!!!!! Even at the old price of $1 thats around $14,000. saved and at todays price, I think Marlboros are around $5.00 a pack now, its unreal how much is spent on cigs.

I remember being asked; "What are you going to do when they go to $1.00 a pack"?? I replied; "I'll quit buying them"!!

I did too! I started buying Bugler at $0.25 a pouch and learned to roll my own. (lol) Worse mistake I ever made!!

Now, even a pouch of Bugler is a mininum of $4.25 a pouch. (That's at the Indian Smoke Shop).

Hokay!! My notifications are coming in again.

While in the U.S. Navy, we were on operations in the North Atlantic when I decided to quit smoking. I threw a whole carton of Lucky Strikes overboard!!

Total waste of $1.50!! (lol)

I wanted to take the time to welcome Aupanner to Tnet and our thread. AND, for becoming #17 for "The Book".

Love and Respect,

Eagle

Thanks. Looking forward to the book. Glad for the chance to meet you on Wednesday, enjoyed the visit. Only found 3 flakes and some fly poop but maybe next time. The tranquility of the creek and the beautiful orange drangonfly for a partner were worth it all. Probably should have dug where the dragonfly was hanging out. Maybe he was trying to tell me something.

EagleDown,

I stumbled onto your thread today and I am hooked. You are indeed natural at storytelling and know how to keep one on the edge of their seat. I'm only on post #64 (posts from 2010). It looks like I have days of great reading material. The good thing about not discovering this sooner is that I get to read straight through the posts and not have to wait for you to write :laughing7: .I look forward to reading the rest of your great stories!

Welcome to our thread!! And thanks for the most positive input!! Now that you've joined Tnet, you won't have to put up with all of those pesky advertisments. (lol)

So, hang around, I'm not out of stories yet. I've just been caught up in putting the stories into a book format. And, at 158 pages (so far), I'll probably have to stop at around 250 pages. Then, if I can't figure out a way to condense it, we might just have to have another book. Yikes!!, I really didn't set out to make a profession out of writing. (lol)

I just had one of those notorious 'after-thoughts'; I had been considering an addendum in the last few pages of the book to put in information that I've purposefully edited out of the stories, i.e.; The Mariposa gold slugs, etc., but now, I believe it would be better to have a "pamphlet" type addendum that would only come with the books that have been pre-paid for, as a special thanks to the ones who help me get it published.

Any thoughts on this????

Eagle,

How do I get in a pre-order on your book?

All the best,

Lanny

All it requires is a commitment to purchase when the money is needed for publishing. It might be a couple more weeks as I'm having a hard time keeping it down to 300 pages or so. (lol)

I apologise for any brief or half answers, but my Dr. put me on some new medications a week ago. He told me they would lower my blood pressure tremendously, but he didn't tell me that every time I sit down to write or read, I'd immediately spin off into la-la land. (lol)

In any case, I'll put you down as #18, if that's hokay with you. (lol)

I picked up another pre-order by pm. #19. We only need 81 more, then I can start making arrangments with a publisher. (lol)

Yea this sound like a great idea! How much is the pre-order and where do I go?

You R Here!! (lol)...........It's not so much a pay now collect later plan, than it's a commitment to pay $25.00 when the book is ready to be submitted to the publishers. This way, I'll know how much I 'should' have to work with for a better price. So, all you need do is stop in here and announce that you would like to help.
