No Ashleen. We still luv ya. It's just getting into the right frame of mind for one, keep thinking--it's just a habit, it's only a habit. You can do it.

Ashleen... when you're ready... you'll be ready. It's all good.

I'm leaving everyone's name on the list to show support...

I know if I had just one - I'd be right back at it... so with everyone you put out, it's possibly the very last one ever for you.

:)

Re: The GREAT TREASURE NET "SMOKE-OUT" (November 1, 2007)

Growing up in downstate N.Y. taught me, you never lose the fight until you stop trying. Ashleen, maybe not this time but next time, or the next or the next. Heck it took me 35 years to quite. ;) everyone else remember falling isn't dying, you can still get back up and keep on going. Even if you have smoked a couple of packs since Nov.1st, thats not a magical date, you can just stop again, you didn't get hooked over night, and for some of you it's going to take more than one try to stop. And please remember whether you stop or not we love each of you the same regardless. :-*

Re: The GREAT TREASURE NET "SMOKE-OUT" (November 1, 2007)

I had a little cardiac event last May. That prompted me to quit, I don't want to put my family through that again. I didn't know they cared so much!
Chantix will keep the nicotine monkey at bay. Actually after I quit smoking is when I got serious about MDing. There is life afterwards and it's much better, trust me.

Re: The GREAT TREASURE NET "SMOKE-OUT" (November 1, 2007)

I'm at 5 days, 21 hours, 2 minutes

I only used the patch for two days and stopped usng that too...

I even quit the patch... :P

I've been good though and smoke free...

I think about you all every day and wish for you all the strength you need to continue trying... :)

WAY TO GO JIM! KEEP IT UP---YOU ROCK and give us all hope

Ashleen, everyone is right I have had failed attempts at quitting as well, and this so far is the farthest I have gotten. So keep your head up and keep telling yourself that you really are going to quit, you need to quit, you want to quit, and you will. Then later pick another date and try again.

Nope I am not totally cig free...still working on it. I have made it down to 3 smokes and I don't even smoke half of the cig I take about 3 puffs and that does it for me. So right now being able to go from 1pk or sometimes 1pk+ a day down to total about 1 1/2 of a cig a day. I think thats a good thing. I actually forget about smoking for a while. Now yes I still get the urges at other times and I do fight through those but its no where near as bad as it was.

You can do it, metal detecting babe! I agree, it can be addicting, even though KirkPA never smoked a smoke. :D

Keep your metal detecting passion alive.

Re: The GREAT TREASURE NET "SMOKE-OUT" (November 1, 2007)

6 days 23 hours 28 minutes
saved $31.40
Not smoked 139 cigs

I only used the patch two days... now, I'm going to put one on again tomorrow.

I can't sleep
I'm angry at stupid things
My wife is telling me to start smoking again
I'm snapping at friends
I'm short with loved ones
I can't spell any more, or remember to use spell check
Even KirkPA seems Kirk-tarded to me, that never happens
Nothing holds my attention
I'm bored
I'm pissed off

I have a wonderful rubber wristband that says; "Livefree . Smokefree" that has helped a little today... when I snap it against my wrist I feel much LESS like punching somebody.

This happened last time I quit too... the mood issues. Anyone know how long this will last? I'm telling ya, I am about to delete this topic and start smoking again...

I don't really expect or want advise ... I just needed to vent. Thanks...

In the time it took me to write this I saved three more cents. Fan-fucking-tastic.

Well, with me it stops as soon as I quit quitting ::)

But..........delete this thread NOT; my nicotene-deprived friend ;)

You CAN do it, you've done it this far, and that's AWESOME :o
wanna do the past 6 days over????....back to square one :'(

Hang in there, man!
Put the patch on tomorrow, and the next day, and the next. .......and hey >>>>>>tell ya what....
if you stay clean thru the weekend........I'll make Monday my new QUIT day !
Okay ????

But, I hear what you're saying about the 'mean grumpies' :(
I get to that point toooooooo quick :( It's like I start feeling I'm being punished unjustly or something.....

then I get pi$$ed.......

then it's a quick jump to the uglies :(

If it wasn't for the damn cigs; I might even like me ???? :)

:D

Not laughing AT you, my friend...... I'll be right there with you soon, I get the same way. Get in and get the Chantix, I hear it helps alot. 75% success rate.

Vent away, if it helps at all! :)

Re: The GREAT TREASURE NET "SMOKE-OUT" (November 1, 2007)

Jim I've been off since june 14th and it's true I used chantix. But I have all the respect in the world for those of you who need no crutch. So for me to continue saying you can do it would be disengenous. All I can say is that you are who you are and people love you. I doubt a few days of grumpiness on your part while stopping smoking will change their opinion of you. Just suck it up and when you offend someone as soon as you realize you have, go back and appologize with the I'm stopping smoking excuse. you'll end up with another fan who is supporting you.
