Detector(s) used
Deus, Deus 2, Minelab 3030, E-Trac,
Primary Interest:
Relic Hunting
Went on a road trip today to get some detecting in.
About 60 miles across country to the permissions.
6 sites were planted in winter wheat.
2 sites in a 1 foot plow, and 1 site partially cropped.

So first target after 30 minutes 1867-1967 penny

I said that needs to a 100 yrs older.
1.5 hrs later the next target I finally justified in taking a photo.
A saw nut

I got tired of plow row detecting so I went on a corn stubble field, found what was a big ash layer down 6" and over a large foot print.
Probably a barn that burnt down.
So between the saw nut and this buckle was another 2 hrs.
I was thinking this is a hard day for no really good keepers.

Few minutes later this item, a tie pin of sorts?

Then a button

Crushed thimble

The next one I thought it only takes one to make a hunt.
Beautiful bell

Little did I know that 10 minutes later life would so great!
Solid 80 on the Deus ll
I thought gee a coin would be nice.
Dug the plug saw the edge-and for next few minutes I just looked at it and said NO WAY!
I looked away looked down and said it again No Way.
I must of repeated this 10 times.

150 yrs of being rolled around in the field.
She's only been kissed on the cheek.
I'm too excited, too tired to clean anything up.
But will tomorrow and post the other stuff.
Perfect day!.

I have been detecting since 1970...53 years. My GOAL is to find a gold coin. ╦╦ç
Well then you're due to get one Terry.
But seriously they come when one least expects it, both times I was totally taken back.
Both will provide a great memory for many moons to come.
Best of luck fulfilling your goal.

Amazing gold coin! what a rush!

Yes there is a way and you found it ! Congrats on a great looking gold coin.

Thanks HEAVYMETALNUT
You're certainly having a great time digging out the awesome recoveries.

It certainly ranked up there at the top for rushes.
This one will be giving for many moons.

Boy what a great find. Gives me hope and I just got myself a new metal detector for the new permission property. Congratulations I can’t think of a more deserving person to find that beauty.

Well thank you Creekside for the kind words.
One just never knows what is under the dirt when they hear that nice sounding beep.
Congrats on the new detector, and I really hope you recover one soon also.
I enjoy your posts of all the awesome points/tools and the knowledge that you share.

You’re welcome. I bet it would look really good in a bezel and chain.

It's a debate with myself whether to have it in a 2x2 or sitting in a Birks sterling ring box with the lid open.

I guess folks just like gold.
Though the yellow metal seems to have the lure of many.
