Detector(s) used
Deus, Deus 2, Minelab 3030, E-Trac,
Primary Interest:
Relic Hunting
Went on a road trip today to get some detecting in.
About 60 miles across country to the permissions.
6 sites were planted in winter wheat.
2 sites in a 1 foot plow, and 1 site partially cropped.
20231105_081558.jpg

So first target after 30 minutes 1867-1967 penny
20231105_084444.jpg

I said that needs to a 100 yrs older.
1.5 hrs later the next target I finally justified in taking a photo.
A saw nut
20231105_101433.jpg

I got tired of plow row detecting so I went on a corn stubble field, found what was a big ash layer down 6" and over a large foot print.
Probably a barn that burnt down.
So between the saw nut and this buckle was another 2 hrs.
I was thinking this is a hard day for no really good keepers.
20231105_124037.jpg

Few minutes later this item, a tie pin of sorts?
20231105_132901.jpg

Then a button
20231105_132115.jpg

Crushed thimble
20231105_125148.jpg

The next one I thought it only takes one to make a hunt.
Beautiful bell
20231105_134231.jpg

Little did I know that 10 minutes later life would so great!
Solid 80 on the Deus ll
I thought gee a coin would be nice.
Dug the plug saw the edge-and for next few minutes I just looked at it and said NO WAY!
I looked away looked down and said it again No Way.
I must of repeated this 10 times.

Full Sovereign - weight
7.9 grams, 22.05mm in
diameter with a Fine
Gold content 7.32
grams.

150 yrs of being rolled around in the field.
She's only been kissed on the cheek.
I'm too excited, too tired to clean anything up.
But will tomorrow and post the other stuff.
Perfect day!.

What I want to know is.... who the f was walking around in that field 150 years ago with GOLD COINS in their pockets ???? That would have been a HUGE sum of money back then, and the person who lost it was probably distraught..

STUNNER!

Those photos just make me drool! Especially the one of the reeded edge!! I SO hope that’s how I find my first gold coin one day—either that or eyeballed right on top! Wow. Huge congrats to you! I know you have a long history in this hobby and you’re overdue. Now… I’m gonna get digging and try to get my first one in 32 years! Thanks for the extra motivation!
Thank you very much
When it happens one really least expects it, but it's surreal when one realizes that it is real.
You're going to get yours, and I'm very surprised that you haven't dug it yet.
Best of luck 👍

Ty for the kind words, I’m definitely working hard to find one! Congrats again!

Thank you for the great reply.

pepperj You have been posting on this site for some years now .Generally you have positive comment about whit others are finding and posting . Today is your day for some words of praise for the things you located in the wheat /corn fields I am not sure why you went digging at that location but you obviously know something we do not know The penny and especially the bell would have made it a great day And add in the gold coin and I would say you hit a grand slam a triple double and single Anytime you hit for the cycle it is indeed a rare and awesome day Congrats and thanks for sharing you day

Thank you very much on the reply.
It will be my 15th yr coming up.
I dig, and then don't get time to clean, post of many hunts.
Busy with things.
This one certainly warranted the extra effort.
I'm not going to hold my breath for the next perfect day.
