TESORO CIBOLA
How does a company as good as Tesoro let out a product that cannot pick.up.more than a couple of inches . I think.the company and product are generally great . All thou this is my first product . But thus is not rocket science . It's a small computer folks . I just don't understand the manufacturing process I guess . Make the product , pass a few coins over to make sure you are getting decent depth . Seems pretty simple . I guess I have the worse luck . I returned to different vdi machines from different co and thought audio only would be simple .?

I just got the cibola today . New to MD about one month . I had the ace 150 and delta 4000 . Returned both because of the vdi were just a waste . Heard great things about tersoro . I'm not putting them down because when I got today really impressed with quilty appearance etc . I do have a call in with them and maybe its me but something is just not right . I hate to have to send back new machine and wait couple of weeks .

My 2nd MD was a Tesoro GoldenSabre made in early 1980, I phoned the tech and he said to send it and he would do a bench test and pay for mail-back! Call the fine people at tesoro and ask for advice. They are cool and over the phone they mailed me "Free" missing battery holder and a ned cover because I said my "locking-Pins" were lose. They DO back up life time warrantees! Good luck.

Yes the depth is two , three inches period . No matter the coin. Put three coins in hands maybe six inches . Metal shoval maybe eight inches . I have the cibloa brand new out of box . I tried the battery that came with it and another battery . The other detectors I had did not have the depth problem at same locations . Found penny at about 1.5 inches waved the clod in front set it down , check hole nothing. Pick up clod , weak signal . Put penny on ground. Maybe 2-3 inches all it would pick up . Tried different settings , grew etc . I hope its me lol hate to send back new machine and wait .

Call Nathan or Rusty at Tesoro 1-928-771-2646, and go over with them what is going on and how you have the machine set up. Probably user error, but hey, you never know. My Cibola kept turning itself off after about a year of use, and it turned out to be a loose connection inside the box. I had it back and retuned in less than 10-days. Good Luck!

PS - Who did you buy it from, and what is their return and training policies? If you got a "bad" machine, they should be picking up your shipping and sending you a replacement. Just saying..

I got it from Tom Miller . I hate to wait ten days . Lol I will call . I hope it is user error . I'm have one month experience . I had two vdi machines and didn't like and returned . They both got decent depth .

Things happen when UPS ships stuff and if you seen the way they toss the boxes around at the receiving centers you'll know why I say to buy from a local dealer where you can carry it home with you.

Cibola is a decent detector. Try this out and see if its any better power it on.. adjust threshold to where you hear a slight hum. Set discrimination just below 5¢ adjust sensitivity to 8 now you can bench test it. If this still produces poor results then there could be something wrong! Hope this helps .. HH

Well folks , I figured it out myself . Lol The manual did not state it . Talked to Rusty ( nice) guy , he never heard of it . Also Tom who sold it to me . So here you go folks . The pin connector has a notched out opening which should be facing down . If it us rotated so it is facing up, then you have no depth . Now Rusty said it should only go one way but try for yourself , it will go.upwards . So maybe some body else will have the same problem . So there you have it , the great mystery solved . Lol

Glad you got it working - Now go get you some! :icon_thumright:

It's a relief when it turns out to be something that simple. I've had several detectors that I had thought failed and gone beserk, but turned out to be battery failure. Was really concened the time that the replacement battery I thougt was new turned out to be junk and had the same problem as soon as I had put it in.

It's just funny nobody knew about it . Now I wonder of the few negative reviews , if that's what happened ?

I own and use a bunch of Tesoros and that's the first I've heard of that problem. Fortunately, easy to fix and easy to avoid once you know of it.

Dwight, you are the only person on the planet that EVER managed to hook it up wrong. We all told you to call Rusty - you did, problem solved. What is the negative you seem to be looking for? You posted this in at least five different threads. Seriously Dwight, you seem to think it is someone else's fault you messed up. Try and forgive yourself and go find some treasure buddy.
