Detector(s) used
TESORO CIBOLA
How does a company as good as Tesoro let out a product that cannot pick.up.more than a couple of inches . I think.the company and product are generally great . All thou this is my first product . But thus is not rocket science . It's a small computer folks . I just don't understand the manufacturing process I guess . Make the product , pass a few coins over to make sure you are getting decent depth . Seems pretty simple . I guess I have the worse luck . I returned to different vdi machines from different co and thought audio only would be simple .?

Terry I'm not coming down on Tesoro . I was letting people know it can happen . I have seen a few people say the same thing and think it was the detector . The pins can be reverserved 180 . I'm sure I'm not the only one . Should I keep that secret to myself ? I'm trying to save someone else the heartache . Now I believe Rusty should have known it and it should have been written in the manual . NOTCH SHOULD BE FACING DOWN . I also posted in varies threads to get more responses . Now with that bring said I'm going to brag on the machine . It is by far the best out of the three I tried . My success ratio is %80 percent. Nothing overly deep a small bolt at eight inches . I say live and learn . Don't be so protective of tersoro . I give credit and blame where its do . The connection can be done wrong . I fiqured it out and Rusty confirmed . Now some of you try it and see . Hell I may become a dealer and u would want to know all problems !

A comment that helps to bring understanding to how this happened, only the HOT series (Cibola, Vaquero, Tejon and Lobo) of Tesoro use a 4 prong plug set up making it possible to do this. The µmax and older Tesoro use a 5 pin connection which is in my opinion nearly impossible to put together wrong.

It's possible . Lol . I did it twice to make that was the problem . I know I'm not the only one . I have seen on other boards and reviews where the few bad reviews , I bet were due to this . You would think there would not be a negative reaction from some folks .

Dwight, I would like to see the picture of both connectors if you can post them. There may have been a change made by the manufacturer that allows the connector to be rotated 180 deg.
Or maybe the connector on the box is missing the flat area that should match up with the flat on the cable connector. The flat is on the opposite side of the notch.
I loaned my Vaquero today so I can't take a photo of the connector on the box, but it is identically keyed to receive this connector. If yours isn't, then you have a problem.
There is no way this can be inserted 180 deg out without excessive force.
Sorry about the picture clarity, but it gets the point across.

I will and post , I did it twice and I would not call it excessive force . It works if notch us down but not up . The notch is a little opening in the cable .

Dwight, I have tried EVERY which way to Sunday to make what you say is easy to do happen. I have NEVER seen another post by ANYONE on ANY of the 10-forums I haunt post this problem, so please show us or direct us to those posts. These are photos of my Cibola, which is about 17-months old. It would be impossible - in my opinion, to do what you did without FORCING the plug in and chewing up the plastic guide. Still, I am willing to listen and see those other posts.

Terry I will , even take with my camera . What I'm saying is you will get good reviews if done right . The machine is great . Just from the two days I have had it . Now of the very few posts , negative on this board , amazon and other boards , when people complained it was about no depth . So I believe what happened to me happened to others and left them with a bad taste on a machine . That should have not been . I plugged in two different machines the ace and the delta , no problem . This one had two different ways up or down , so believe it or not I went to the maual to checked . Now I quote from the manual " Plug the male cable end into the female connector on the control housing and tighten the cable thumb nut " . You are finished ! So I did and it fit and it tighten . Lol no mention of the opening notch facing down which would have told me . Also it had to be connected , the depth was just terrible . Do you believe I made this up or the only one who has a cable like this ? I will post pictures and post pictures of it being upside down .

Here is the videos

Here you go folks , I posted video . Now I will say it fits easier once you know up and down . Also the locking nut on the outside that connects going unto the housing is loose and will tighten up , I don't know if that's normal ? Anyway I may have done it wrong but it fit . Lol Next time I will wear my glasses . Lol

But nobody knew including Tesoro . Lol
I can't agree. Rusty at Tesoro found the problem plus how can you beat a customer service dept when they sent me missing parts "free" when I bought a used Tesoro MD from "private party" with stuff not all there. I can't knock Tesoro Co. my Friend.
(Tip: When ever you connect a male & female coupling, examine first! Line up the correct prongs as designed and knotch which is designed to "go in one way".)

I tried to post video but it came out as pictures . Don't know why . Did from my phone . My point is folks , yes I must have done it wrong but the manual did not state and up side down did fit just not as well .
