Been looking into artifacts that deal with peoples & processes during times of extreme necessity. Famine, war, poverty etc...

It's great when you all post your photos of interesting finds from all over the world. Never know what tool or piece of mechanism will show up!

Did a random Google search of museums in my area today and ended up at a little Military History Museum. Curated and operated by a wonderfully knowledgeable gentleman. It was what looked like his life's work of model building, collecting and archiving. There was no one there and he was able to walk around with me to answer all my hundreds of questions. Even got to see his huge hand built model of the USS Missouri in progress since the 1980's. The details were impressive to say the least.

There was an entire section dedicated to tools and items manufactured by our area and examples from the Civil War all the way to modern day. Had no idea! With that section, adjacent were detailed historical records, photographs, books and artwork of local important contributors both from military and engineering here at home.

Walked away with a treasure trove of new knowledge to dive into. My favorite story among many others was about a horse who was promoted to Sergeant and highly decorated! Including two purple hearts. Did she ever EARN them! Wow! I had never heard of Sgt. Reckless until today. She wasn't from our area or state but he had a little section dedicated to her. Sgt. Reckless even loved eating eggs, bacon and the soldiers poker chips once!

Was also impressed with the transportable field organ used by the Chaplains during war time. It still worked! Picture attached.

A fantastic few hours spent at a wonderful place with an awesome dozen. Museum Treasure for sure! Had no audience tonight to share this adventure with so naturally had to spill the information here. I'm sure with the extensive knowledge base you all share daily you've surely heard of Sgt. Reckless and I'm glad to be in the know!

Have a wonderful rest of your weekend!
