going to post autographes that were gotten in the 40s for my late mother. Grandpa worked at a Hotel and sum i just dont know who they are. It might be fun but it will be the longest post in TNET history. Hope yall can help.

How about John Carroll - his obit mentions he was a captain, this could've been while he was working up to that.

Ooooooo, I like the way you think! Flipping it might make it "Len somebody", and explain the big loop in the middle, but the abrubt end doesn't make sense. I think with the sharper pencil point at the beginning, then getting wider and smoother as the pencil is used, plus the flourish at the end, he's got it right side up. And there is a good possibility that the "x" at the end is just more flourish, if that helps.
Frankly, this one has me stumped.

These are really cool.

I wanted to add, that my wife works at a very, very nice hotel, which has a concert theater attached.

The employees there are instructed to NOT approach the celebrities, or ask for autographs, photos, etc.
But.... times are much different know, than then!

I checked chaney when i first thought it was upside down , it was the only lon i could think of .
Doesnt seem to match jr. or sr. and sr. died in 1930.

looks like two crossed T,s near the end.

That would be nice though chaney would be worth a few bucks or a very cool one to keep.
