Yeah,I was a little insulted. Thanks for asking! All is forgiven. I resized them in Picasa 3. Anyhow, the pickle fork says,EXPRNS EHRENBERG MADE IN SWEDEN(nickle silver?) Two monogramed D teaspoons,S T,lion, anchor, harp, sterling. Turquoise spoons,no mark. Six small spoons with square line handles, sterling, arrow?,VKB,sterling. This is the first time,I really put pics of my finds on Tnet. Thanks again, for your help. I have been treasure hunting/detecting for 42 years,so far!!!!

Dang, thats an awesome score!
I would love to find something like that but for now I am hitting trash and lead. :(

A lemon fork that buddy found in the same spot! I hoping to go back, before winter sets in and look for more!! I was hoping this would be a banner find. At least it was for me!!! Anyhow, the hunt continues.

The spoons with the turquoise - I would really love to see some close ups of these - they may be Native American made (Navajo ?)
do the bowls on these , display decorative stamping of any kind ? also the four smaller matched spoons - are they hallmarked ?
You may find more in this area !!! Argentium.

OOPS , my bad , I just realized that the four small spoons are actually six ! and that you already replied about
hallmarks for them and the turqoise spoons - I do think the chances are excellent , that the Turquoise spoons
are Navajo made.

How old are these items? Maybe they were hidden there in during the CW so not to be taken by soliders.

Dont know age of items. Found at Mill Creek Park, youngstown Ohio. Established 1891. They bought farms, etc through the years. Ive been going there for about 15 years and still find stuff. Check out their website Mill Creek Metro Parks. Also book History of Millcreek Park The Green Cathederal.

I wish I could change this to Best Finds. Im loving, all the attention,Im getting on this post. By the way,I used a Whites xlt with 10 inch coil. My buddy uses a Minelab exploter se.

Nice finds... Somebody buried those and was worried they were going to get stolen, or possible war cache to keep out of the marching soldiers hands. Never know the story behind that type of find. Congrats :icon_thumright:

Again, I'm sorry I did not mean to insult you.

Nickel silver is not silver *at all* sorry to say.... Anything marked with just sterling is pretty much going to be sterling with some exceptions. The ones with the lion is going to be British Sterling. An arrow and anchor is just common marks for sterling.
Great finds, I hope you do get banner !!

Thanks for all the nice replies and maps. I showed them to some friends and they say sell them. I am going to keep them right now. If I sold them for scrap,it would be a waste of my time, Also I feel, they are collectors items and worth a lot more that way! Money is not everything. I enjoy showing them to everyone!!!!

More Pics!

Here are two closeup pics of the two turquoise spoons. They are the inside of the bowl part, note that one spoon has a arrow on it and the other a crescent moon. Maybe they are navaho or indian coin silver?

Just clicked on your new pics & got good enlargement so even my nearsighted eyes can see how fine these silver items are! I doubt they were lost at a picnic. Maybe hid from a sticky-fingered visiting relative, lol. But then, why not return to dig them up? With a site like yours, must be hard when other obligations keep you away! Thanks for great pics! HH Andi

According to a listing on ebay, the two turquoise spoons are 1950s navaho souvenir spoons. Mine are smaller and nicer! Seem to be more handcrafted and handmade. My buddy and I went back to our spot yesterday and didnt find anything. Oh well, the hunt continues another day!!!

Fantastic! I have never had suck luck . Small coin spills are about it. Congrats.

You know , I think the two Navajo spoons are the winner of the entire group - 1950's is a good guess - I think they could be 40's ,
I know everybody -especially me - has been harassing you for more closeups , but do you think you could take them to a friend
who is into photography - tell him you'll buy him/her- a six pack , and please put up a photo that shows these two spoons in their
entirety - These ( Hand crafted Navajo silver spoons) are actually a rare find ! I don't remember ever seeing one posted on here.
If you look on line , you may be able to find a couple of books that are dedicated to Navajo spoons - if I am able to locate the
one I'm thinking of , I'll PM you with the info - Amazon.com may have it ! Please understand these are an exciting find !
Argentium.
