Today we returned to the Saxon Site in the hope of a Sceat. Sadly it was still an ankle breaker & after 2 hours 15 minutes we gave up with just a Saxon Pin, Saxon Strap-end & Medieval Horse Pendant.
I then challenged Cru'dad to pick a field on the way home & he chose a site that he has mentioned a couple of times & I've not been keen. It's a low yield Roman Site that has had less than 30 bronzes & no silver. However, it was his pick & at least it had been deep ploughed & rolled.(2 hour hunt)
So as it happens it was totally the right call with a Roman Silver Pin (Treasure) & CELTIC GOLD!!! (My second this year)

12 Roman Coins
2 Tudor Buttons
Medieval Horse Harness Pendant (Type I need)
Saxon Pin (near complete)
Saxon Strap-end
Roman Bronze Pin
Roman SILVER Pin
Romano-Celtic Ring (shame it's broke) We have had this in kids size, but this is daddies...
Celtic Gold Stater of Cunobelin circa 10-20AD.:headbang:

Congrats on the gold coin! How big is it, pretty small like US dime size? Approximate age? Great hunt as usual!!

Maybe cru's dad knows best after all? Ha. Glad you listened to him and got the gold stater. Nice hunt once again Crusader.

Phenomenal find! You always know where to find nice stuff.

Bit smaller than a 'one cent', 2000 years old.

I'll give him this one. Although he is the creator & holder of the database of knowledge.

Another incredible find to throw in the vault. It sure has been a lot of years and a lot of great stuff!

This one we are giving to the Land-owner, as we have a better example of this type, & it will even the score on many of the other finds we will show them this year. (including the other gold Celtic that I need)

Congrats Crusader! Another brilliant search with great results!

Did i mention i voted Banner for this hunt? Three complete pins in one hunt is Banner worth alone! :occasion14:

Wow. This makes me want to move to Europe. I get excited for a month digging a 150yr coin.... I think I would swallow my younger if I found a 2000yr gold coin. Me jelly, you banner!

Again????? Simply amazing finds sir!!! :notworthy: Curious; when are they going to offer you a full time job as an Archaeologist?? :laughing7:

Although amazing, the bronze Roman Pin & the Saxon Pin was Cru'dads finds, mine was the Silver Pin & gold coin, so depends how you look at it.

Yes, it's funny how it comes out of the blue, we stayed a little later on the Roman site in the hope of our first Silver from it. When I shout out; 'I've done it' (or something similar) Cru'dad shouted out - what the 'Roman Silver' - Nope - CELTIC GOLD.

Congrats on yet another Celtic gold stater. Those coins are beautiful and I love the history. I bet your farmer will be very pleased. Banner hunt man!

I'm sure he will, I'm popping there this morning to show him it, as well as the Silver Pin (before that goes off into the system).

Yes, he really liked it especially as it had a Wheat ear on it.
