Crane Peak 007.JPGHope I'm wrong but from here it looks like Crane Peak just went up.

Day 13 007.JPGEarlier this afternoon it appeared as the Devil himself was looking down from Montgomery Ridge towards the headwaters of the north fork of the Merced.

Enough already.

Back burning?

You will see increased smoke on the eastern edge of the fire over the weekend. There is a large burning operation being done on 120 from evergreen rd then north along white wolf rd.

Not that I want to see more smoke as it didn't lift here until 1:30 pm but its encouraging to see YNP do something about a fire within its borders. Having seen them smolder for months on end I've emailed them asking them to dump water or gas on the fire but do SOMETHING besides watch. I think at this point we just want it to be over.

You can have all the doubts you want and you are welcome to come out here and put your boots on the ground to try to stop this fire. We've put miles of fire line in every night just to watch the fire blow by each afternoon.

<<<<<<<<<<----------------- So you'll understand what I am about to post. There's a reason I have that avatar.

I do think you misunderstood a little. No one here is insinuating that you all are not trying. God knows I know what it's like to watch a lot of hard work go to pot in a heartbeat. Too many years of forest litter accumulating and entirely too much ladder fuels. This has set up a damn near impossible situation.

Be smart, stay safe, and watch the wind, brother. We don't need anymore shaking and baking going on.

80 dozers,be sure and thank those dozer guys folks. The smoke is about as thick as it has been all along this morning,my hats off to all working this, and all fires, its hard enough work, but to do it half sufocated........!!!

I heard SPI created a line 8 dozers wide around their properties. This must have been a huge benefit to Tuolumne City.

medic7a, I appreciate your service. I removed my post. It was ill timed, I was tired and this is no time to start that debate.

I have noticed that there has not been any controlled burns by the FS this year in my visual range. But, would you believe, that this should call for more controlled burns in all NF? Terrorist in Arkansas? I don't know. I think they would be easier to spot or notice here unless they look like hillbillies with big guts, unmatched camo, guns and beer cans in their trucks. I guess it could happen. But how do you determine if a terrorist or an arsonist started the fire? Been some smart arsonist over the years.

Timmy...both have the same effect...here we have an epidemic poaching problem by Hmong people, they are running amuck right now, decimating our deer, and squrrels(sp),they are are doing the same thing with our fish, our law enforcement is not doing anything about it...do they stick out like a sore thumb here?Yes they definetly do!!Most people think us in Cali all live on the beach but as you can likely see......we have vast expans' of forests that are at maxximum fuels capacity.Idaho,Wyo,and Montana forests are in a major battle with Bark Beetle kills, those tree's literally explode when subjected to flame...worse than gas.A well orchestrated plan would for very few dollars cause all kinds of havoc, and financial cripple. This fire alone is as of this morning over $50 million,on DC-10 bomber is $26,000 and hr,we had/have three on this fire.....then the costs or rehab/stabilzation erosion control measures that will easily range into the millions.....I truly hope this isnt a thing of the future but the possibility is sure there.I can tell you the smoke at my house right now is dibilidating...visibility is only 100 yrds

Don't know if anybody's familiar with HAARP, but its been sitting over RIM fire area, since the beginning, I believe that's why its WILD winds
are driving this thing BEZERK! Been studying HAARP over 20 years, just another cause and effect! By the way its @ a purple level which is the highest ELF effect.

HaarpStatus North America ? TheWeatherSpace.com

Looked at HAARP picture this morning it appears that HAARP is being directed to the NW now, off of the southern CA, Yosemite AREA, . Should help a lot in the control,
I just put this here, weather modification is very real , As i said, I have been aware of HAARP for over 20 years. Enough said

This is the 3rd time I've heard the pot growers were responsible for the fire. It's possible but IMO not likely. There a probably 3 ways to get to the fire start site: a very long walk, a walk involving crossing a very swift and frigid river with a heavy pack on, or by boat.

There was a kayaking event the day the fire started. I saw at least 50 kayaks leaving town Saturday morning. To kayak the Tuolumne, legally you must first acquire a permit. There is a list of these permitees. If I was conducting and investigation I would be speaking to each and every one of them.

It just makes more sense to me to talk to people we know were there than to speculate on those we think might have been there. I'm not giving the cartel a pass here. They are a bane to the forest and need to be dealt with.

I agree totally C.D.,something in my gut just tells me,it wasnt a "grow",my first thought was a bowhunter(season opened the 15th)Most know my feelings on the Cartels but I have had experience with them and have noted they usually dont use open flame....just my observation
