Harden Flat.jpg Watching trees blow up last night near Harden Flat, 15 miles away. At this point it's rather sickening.

Prayers sent from South Carolina for the home owners and PLEASE Prayer for the Brave fire fighters, in which my brother has been a part of for 20+ plus years...They do some CRAZY things which I'd never dream of doing...My brother was a Hotshot for many years then a SmokeJumper for several years! I was a police officer and we would joke with each other,,,he'd say "man no way I'd go wide open into a shooting situation" and I'd say "man no way I'd jump out of a plane into the back country into a fire no less!!" He still is involved with fire but in a higher up position in Boise Id now.

sounds like they lost Berkley Camp....160,980 acres....

Tremendous respect for the fire fighters and pilots. Trucks from anywhere within 1000 miles are here.

They did lose Berkeley Camp. Video on the news last night. I know there are 10 - 12 homes right down river but no word on them. The smoke has been billowing from that area for what seems like forever.

Now almost 180,000 acres. Smoke this morning may be a little thicker than last couple of days, seems like a fair amount burned during the night and it's getting closer. The personnel on this fire are some of the worlds best. Nothing but RESPECT for them.

Crews from as far as Southern Arkansas.......over $20 million spent, and with the type of aircraft and 60+ dozers I see how

what kind of turbidity will this cause?

That is just very sad to look at...all those evo-wackos should be put into the middle of that and left there.

I bet you remember the Marble Cone fire in Big Sur. The lake at Los Padres Dam lost half its capacity due to silting up. I've been wondering what's going to happen to Don Pedro. (Is that Jawbone Ridge?)

.Yes I do,and my thoughts exactly!!!The silt below the Wards ferry Bridge is already mind blowing, from the Complex fire......this will be disastrous!!!

I was a camper at this camp and used to go with my grandma every summer, later I volunteered there then got hired and worked several summers in the kitchen and or on the maintenance crew, I even helped build some of the cabins with some great journeyman carpenters, learned a lot and made some great friends there. Crazy that it's all gone so fast.

Kuger two of my friends from here (western Ark.) is up there fighting the Rim fire. What little I hear, I know it's bad. Prayers sent to all.

TT

Cant hardly imagine...hold on to the memories!!
TimmyT,Your friends have their hands full for sure, but yesterday they got dozer lines around three quarters of the whole perimeter, and are doubling up on those now. This alone is a MONUMENTAL feat given the terrific terrain they are dealing with,I tip my hat to those guys.
The smoke wasnt near what it has been morning so...

I saw 3 more dozers coming up the road this morning. Not sure if they were for the fire crews or Sierra Pacific Industries. SPI has put a large amount of effort into those dozer lines.

LOL!I passed those same three this morning.I am really amazed at what the dozers have done...having run dozers and looking at where they did what they did,I am impressed!!I see two BLM lowboys with brand new D-8's where the Bypass 108/Standard Rd intersection is.The dozer camp at Tuolumne had about 20-30 dozers sitting ready...folks should really thank those guys!!!

That has to be one of the saddest things I have seen in a while......this area has seen more than it's share of fires. I grew up hunting this area when I was young. I fished around Berkeley Camp spring last year. There was a local article in the Modesto Bee about the whole sediment problem coming up for Pedro. This whole thing makes me sick.

......yes Hot Shot Eva Shicke was killed down there in "87 in the Complex fire,Forest Service didnt learn then, and after hearing the Head's answer when asked about salvage logging....I dont think they have learned yet. When you look around at where people have built homes,I really wonder if maybe we as a race are not becoming more dumb...losing common sense?Fact is we have just seen the tip of the ice burg with fires like this,I beleive.

Breaks my heart seeing how late the fawns are this year and now way even mature animals can out run fire like that. This is all great wintering ground for the deer that already have predators out of control, and the State allowing two buck tags....and relentless poaching....I am a hard core deer hunter but out of pity for the deer have not pulled a tag in over 10 years now.Forest Circus doesnt manage forests and F and G doesnt manage its Deer...really irks me
