Cool! In the mid 1960s I attended 71st Junior High and 71st High School in Fayetteville, NC. Lots of Scots settled in that area (Cross Creek) after the 1745 rebellion. We were told our school was named for a regiment that was wiped out.

Every time I hear or read “71st” I am automatically reminded of my school days there.

I think a Rev. War plate is just about the best military type find you could hope to dig in the US, and your find is so well-preserved. Congrats on such an epic find. Sorry for being late in offering my compliments, but at least I'll get your stunning find back to page one. :notworthy:

Definitely would have voted banner if I had seen this. Left town the 23rd. Im Back. Congrats! at least

Well I sure do enjoy seeing a nice scotish thistle being found!
Congrats on the banner find

Dear Charlie:

I'm a Highland regiments fan and an expert on the 84th. I lived in Savannah and had Ken Meyer as a house mate. He taught me about hunting and burned my ear off with explaining every birck pile in GA & SC! I've had about a dozen of the 71st badges in my hands over the years and many at the Charelston show. Would you be so kind as to send me a shot of the back and the general whereabouts you found this wonderful find. Kim Stacy [email protected]
