Return to Surprise Field & Carpark Field...UPDATED

Shaun7 & I spent several hours finishing a small corner on the Carpark Field, where I got a Hammered, 1818 Sixpence, Celtic Ring (2000 years old) :o
Then we noticed they had cut the 3 ft weeds in an area we couldn't cover, so went over & did it. This is where I had the stunning large 17th Century Buckle.
Last hour or so was in the Surprise Field where I finished on a Scrappy & Roman Brooch.

Hammered of Charles I Halfpenny, rose on both sides :icon_thumright:

Rained the whole time, just as I like it

At least I will have had some finds in June :)

I love reading your finds.. Crusader, your killing me.. if I ever get there to hunt, and found that.. It would be a 911 call for sure.. totally awesome hunt in my book. Have you ever found anything with jewels in it?

It was a very pleasing hunt for June :headbang:

Never had anything with Jewels in, that I can recall. It would be an unusual find for the areas I do, more likely on a beach. (bear in mind, any jewels are likely to be knocked out by the plough).
I have ;D and guess what :P I'm getting it baqck soon ;D

SS

What...the Stirrup Ring?
;D ;D ;D

SS

Hate to be the one that told you so :D Worth a few bob more with the report + dis-claimer
No you said that about the Hoard, the ring was declared Treasure last year, and the valuation given this year of £2000, it was a done deal, now the Museum in question has pulled out and I'm getting it back, 2 years of waisting my time and money, the Treasure act is a Joke and doesn't work >:(

No, what I said, after you got the offer, was it was still likely you would have it returned.

PS. We know its broken, it terms of timescales. Unless you get the Staff. Hoard.
Also, make sure you make an official complaint, based on the fact they never met their guidelines of a year. The more written complaints they get the more likely we will get change. I have done so, we need more to rally.
What gets me, is the claimant could have died in those timescales.

I could seek legal action if I wanted, they made a offer for the ring which I think is binding, Michaels partner is a soliciter, she also thought it was a binding offer, which I have in wrighting... Sorry to drag this out on your thread, but I am well pi$$ed of with them >:(

Cheers guys. I know my XP is working well even with the 11" coil I seem to hit the really small stuff. Should see the smaller pieces of lead I have to cope with

This will most likely be my best post in some time.

I was as well, but we need to strike back with a level head. It is time for change & improvement, & less of the possible game playing. Although I think they are just a victim of their own success, they never expected the quantity the Law has produced. It will get worse with the hobby going throw a renaissance after the Hoard. Club's are at max membership.

Re: Return to Surprise Field & Carpark Field...

Not bad Cru, for the off season :icon_thumleft:. I still got about 2 or 3 weeks before the farmer harvests his onions. I had a look at the fields yesterday and found samian and other pottery and big tooth, horse or cow I think.

Thats what we have been doing, looking between the crop for pottery. It will localise our search when the harvest is in
