REDs PATRIOTIC BUNKER

Boy I bet you would Viking... You'd be set then buddy!!!!

Problem is my 31" draw length. From what I understand I would need a 72"+ long recurve? Few and far between. I guess I could get a longer riser, and it would have to be a take-down .I know the draw weight is measured at 28" ? I pull it to 31", will that be a problem? If it's 50 lbs at 28", it won't be 50 lbs at 31....
SNAP! Whoops.

Viking: I again admit I am NOT a re-curve expert but I do know some. Now you say "the draw weight is measured at 28". That might be absolutely TRUE... but the question then would be what is the max draw length for "this designed" bow. And... what is the poundage increase per 1 lb. of draw?

"I guess I could get a longer riser." you say.... I would think a shorter riser and longer limbs... but that's me thinking. A longer riser would/could stiffen the limbs more unless redesigned.

Got a question for ya Viking: If your 6'8", standing straight up, bow arm LOCKED (shoulder and arm position be damned right now), when you draw what do you use as repeatable anchor points? The reason I ask is for a good reason concerning your draw length. I'm just curious.

Right index finger to the corner of my mouth . No release, that's how i have been doing it. I'm 6' 5". I just checked my reach again it is 76 inches. Using the draw length calculators, that are all over the archery sites, 30.4 draw length.

PM'ed ya buddy.... I'm NOT doubting anything you or anybody posts. Ok your 6'-5" (not 6'-8" my bad). I only question under what conditions did this measurement result come from (PM). It seems it would be "short" based upon your stated height and a/the usual "natural" draw length. Now (finger shooting) if you anchored the string dead center of your nose and continued to draw to anchor the right index finger into the corner of your mouth this would shorten your draw admittedly. This is exactly what I did but with a release. I WRAPPED the right thumb around/behind my neck at full draw (because of the one I utilized). But at such a taller stature I'd expect your draw to maybe be longer especially if you draw well past the center of your nose (under the conditions I stated).

Folks I think I should back off this archery theme on Red's thread here. I'll help ANYBODY who wants it with my learned knowledge, experience and thoughts... and I'd like too. But we're way off topic from Red's intended intent. Should we start another forum maybe with sharing our knowledge, thoughts and experiences...?

What do ya think???? :dontknow:

Well I measure my reach like when I boxed. Pretend your a glider have someone measure middle finger to middle finger. I have seen 6' 4" guys with 88" reach! I guess my arms are a weeee bit to short for my height.... No snide remarks now...:laughing7:

What do ya think

Its an open thread buddy, talk to your hearts content on just about anything.

What ever comes along. Should Viking get out fitted it would be interesting what was come up with.

Plastic sheeting or trash bags, ect, if lacking fancy clamps to secure ties with, or a tarp today with a torn off grommet can be dealt with like canvas used to be secured with a marble or smooth stone, round ball rifle fodder even.
Held behind material with enough material pushed below marble or stone to allow tying cordage below it. More tear resistant than cutting a hole in fabric...
Wonder if stray marbles or round balls some folks have recovered could have been related?

I have too much time on my hands, construction has really slowed down around here.

Hoyt Hunting Recurves - HOYT.com

I'll take one of each!!

Bow season over in Oregon? You need to take a trip to Arkansas. Bow season sometimes runs into February (haven't hunted in a while, so it may have changed).
