Detector(s) used
XP Deus - also a dealer
A week ago me and my detecting partner Angelo were detecting without any luck and I found a new pile of rocks in the woods. We spent a couple of hours at this 'new' site and had to leave. We went back yesterday and spend 4 hours there with out XP Deus detectors! It is the MOST awesome Metal Detector I have ever used. Over the two days I found a small Batwing buckle 5 large cents 17_ _, 1807, 1810 1817, 1817 - Angelo got an 1818. We got several HUGE silver plated buttons, other HUGE coat Buttons, Tombac Buttons, cast pewter buttons. We also pulled a couple of small brass buckles a wonderful tiny ladies belt buckle, a cool pewter spoon. I found my find of the year so far - one of the rarest Washington Inaugural Buttons around. Similar to WI 14 on page 395 of Albert's Blue Button Book, published in 1976. It was an R-6 3-5 known. It does have the shank but it is flattened on the back. Likely more have been found since then but it is still extremely rare! Photos of it right out of the ground and after it was cleaned! It has a different edge and may be a unique specimen.

CONGRATS on your AWESOME GW Button, my Banner Vote is in :occasion14:

I just got an e-mail and was told it is definitely an R-7 meaning it is the rarest of rare - likely a unique specimen! I am overwhelmed with my own find! Here is a better image of it!

I think a very advanced collector would be wanting that one. Guessing there's only a handful of them, but is all you need!

Welcome to the G.W. Club:headbang:

This is a no-brainer Banner find! Congrats!!

It is something when you find a button and it is possibly the only one that exist. And it's a GW button. :notworthy:

Vey KOOL! Congratulations! Hogge

Banner vote from me.

Banner vote in!! Awesome find!!! :hello2:

I've seen every GW button go up. This particular one is the rarest I've seen. Ok I'm done. I think my point has been conveyed. Get this damn thing up top............................please

Things like this is why I love to relic hunt. Just the history, rarity, value all combined into one. No question whatsoever this deserves to be on banner and honestly it's much more rare than a big percentage up there now, although I wouldn't complain about any for sure. ;)

What a shame.A possibly unique button, and unlike its more common GW button siblings, that made it up top...this gets overlooked...Again what a shame

voted banner. can't stand not seeing this up top. deserves lots of recognition, if only for the historical aspect. congratulations on an awesome find.
