Tom,

Well I worked for Canadian Pacific Railway in marketing and luckily with about 15,000 employees we actually had some bright people at all levels in the company. That helped keep this profitable in spite of some of the misfits we had........:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

I can't remember if I told this story or not but 5 or 6 of us gave an inhouse 2 day marketing course at various cities across Canada and the US.

We had about about 250 people in Marketing and sales at the time. Anyway after the session were over a Vice President had a thank you supper for us. 5 courses, wine the whole fancy deal I was seated across from him and he asked me what the company should do to make sure what was learned would be applied throughout the company.

With my best straight face I told him all the senior managers from general manager and up should take the course also but we would give them a 3 day course because they weren't as quick as the front line marketing and sales people....:laughing9::laughing9::laughing9:

No worries, Brit was talking about some Myth that growing your own food is expensive. LOL Never heard that before, fella should head to Germany. I have seen so many Wild Gardens through out German forest. Even ones that are no longer taken care of still thrive.

You would not be the first person in Germany that does not understand them. I was a moderator on a Forum for EU Security & Defense; a real forum not this internet stuff. Its the big one every year inn Berlin.

One year a close mate of mine is also a Mod on the same forum, he is a Scott. Before the discussions started me and him and some other Mods where talking, one of the others was German out of Mainz, my mate would say something and she would be like what did he say, and then we would translate it into German. She says to me in front of him you can speak English, I understand English. I said I know, but it seems rather rude to translate english to english directly inn front of him. She says thats not english. I laughed a little and said has anyone seen the terrorist interview spoof online where the terrorist gets pissed because he has closed caption, but his arab mates do not.

I said just wait until this forum start; you will see 1200 people pick up their translator headsets to understand him, but it will be the native speaking english that will flip through the channels because English will not be translated into english, and only the few native speakers who one of the 22 other offered languages will just settle for another one.

So when it started, and my mate started talking, everyone started reaching. Man we are sitting center stage at the Congress building main hall in Berlin and I that German lady started laughing, it was over, I started laughing, rest of the mods knew what was up. President called for a fast break.

We walk off, decide who is going to give his address on his behalf, gather our selves and head back out to start again. It begins and this Russian MOD prick I normally can not stand, gets up about 12 row back and raises his hand. I said Sir have a seat, we will get to questions later. He speaks over me and says is he going to speaking again, what was that, was this some sort of joke.

Over, I had to take another break but this time a little longer.

Alright folks, headed out for a run. About 0615 here, perfect time to run.

Catch you all later.

About 300 gold coins, dating back around 1,500 years to a time when part of the Roman Empire was collapsing, have been discovered during construction at an abandoned cinema in Como, in northern Italy, the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities said in a series of statements.
All of the coins were found inside the remains of an amphora, a type of storage jar that the Romans often used to transport liquids such as wine and olive oil.

breast plate.jpg PENSACOLA, FLORIDA—The Pensacola News Journal reports that conservation of a Spanish breastplate that dates back at least 450 years has revealed decorative details on its surface. Recovered from the site of the Emanuel Point I shipwreck in 1996, the armor is thought to have been worn by a conquistador in Tristan de Luna’s army in 1559. At the time, the armor was probably about one-tenth to one-quarter of an inch thick. Now, after years underwater, the iron has been converted into iron sulfide measuring only about one-fiftieth of an inch thick. Concretions on its surface, however, measuring up to three inches thick preserved its shape. John Bratten of the University of West Florida said he poured epoxy into the back of the armor and left it to harden for several years to make a cast. Student James Gazaway has continued to clean and conserve the breastplate over the past year. “Right around the neckline there’s four parallel rows of lines about one millimeter apart,” he said. “Very precise, definitely inscribed, and part of the original decoration work on the piece.” Nov.1, 2018
