Really? They didn't have outhouses? Even in the country you would want some walls when the wind is blowing on a winter night.
Maybe that spot was a privy. There's a depression, rrocks in it. Never thought of that. Going to take a look back there tomorrow if I get time and it doesn't rain.
There's a little shed in back which might have been for chickens. Gots that ancient electrical wire running to it which is not connected luckily. That shed is full of recluse spiders in warm weather.
I was walking to the back door up the old walk and it occurred to me that people reach into pockets for keys as they approach a door. And maybe pull out a coin by doing so. Although not really applicable to a back door so much. But I did dig a 1971 nickel by the step lol.
That's what I was told. I guess they used a chamber pot at night and in bad weather. A friend was showing us his house one day. He had one. He was very proud of it. He had just gone through a divorce and said, "At least I have a pot to p!$$ in!" LOL!
