I love those old roadsters. But I wonder if the early Cobras with the small engine's were ever turbo- charged.
There is an old joke about British roadsters. You know why the British don't build computers? Because they couldn't figure out how to make them leak oil :)
But I would still love a 69 Jaguar.

THIS was HIS twin turbo ,Built by him ,WAY back then :) https://newatlas.com/go/6423/#gallery

Back around, 1975 I wanted to buy a XKE Jag.Real bad.,,,The dealer talked me out of it...Saying the don't like to start when it raining...

Man I can think of many things this applies to.

Army medical treatment would be top of the list.

My army brother woudon't go near the VA when he was diagnosed with cancer.
You probably know more about such things than the rest of us.
As far as feeding Africa and such, I know it seems cold but remember the starving Ethiopians with their skeletal children? I always wondered why are they having children when there is no food for the adults?
Nature will solve problems when left alone. But I think there is money to be made in such situations.
My great uncle ginned cotton in the 1900's-his name was Harvey Coatlin Byrd.
I'm all for conservation also. But things always get out of hand when people are given a little authority.
Bet these have been interesting times for you.

That Shelby is beautiful.
Yeah, I know those Jags were finicky to say the least lol. But I still want one.
I was also in love with open wheel Indy cars, the Lolas and others. I remember my surprise when I found out those 4 cylinder turbo-charged Offenhausers were reaching 180 mph way back then.

Someone needs to talk our First Mate off the ledge. Her beloved Dodgers are done. Thoughts and prayers Pirate Lady ;)

Oh yes. Since it is officially Christmas season here is one of my favorite songs they play this time of year although there is no mention of Christmas.

HPB,

Well they seem to be trying to turn things around over there. Unfortunately in a lot of areas of the world poor land management has caused a lot of damage to the soil and environment.

We could probably learn a lot from the Amish since they farm the old fashioned sustainable way.

My wife and in laws hated those starving Ethiopian adds. They are from Ethiopia and claim to have never seen anyone starve there, been over a great deal my self and also have never seen any starving.

As far as picking cotton during them times; such times where very hard, my family migrated to the US and Mexico in the early 1800s, whilst others stayed behind and ran the ranches in in Africa. From what I hear is that if you where lucky enough to get to pick cotton back then, you where one of the lucky ones that got to provide.

Grand father told me 80 pounds was about the average per person, but before the depression and shortly after cotton was worth more than beef, so the cattle stayed and stocked up the ranches over the years while they focused on cotton, couple years after it was over beef blew through the roof for those times and our ranches where basically shittin in tall cotton.

He said they nothing but oil and cattle after all that, no one in the family wanted to got back to cotton.

As for the VA; well afraid I can not say much on here about them without it sounding like a rant towards Obama.

Hey bill,

Bet they could finish up this century if them tools where not made in China.

Oddjob,

Thanks for the chuckles....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:....as far as I know the entire Loess plateau has been reclaimed and is now productive.

Pretty impressive considering that the area is the size of France.

I did retire from the agency, even planned on keeping it that way. Wife and I could not decide where of what to do; then my old agency sent my family and I to the presidents inauguration and parties as the agency rep. Everyone knew how displeased I was with the recent events in our agency and that I was retiring. My mate offered me a very nice appointment, just for a few years. It was only going to go until the end of the current pres term but I have sorted matters out much faster.

So I am looking for the exit now so to speak. They really just needed someone from outside the government to come in and swing that iron fist, then if a complaint happened they could fall back on an excuse along the lines of "well he has not been exposed to US government diplomacy".

Worked to, complaints really rolled in. Saved millions though and hurt more feelings than they expected.

Glad you walked away while still intact.
