Simon,
When I was young I was pretty much a dog person, however, my wife was a cat person. And since we were both working way back when it wasn't fair to have a dog in an apartment all day alone while we both worked.
Well we adopted a starving stray kitten and many years later we are up to number 7 and all except one were rescued cats...I guess we enjoy the punishment.....

Wow, seven. I am glad we got them as it taught me to open my eyes. I miss Simon greatly, but our cats have helped ease his loss. Then we lost Max. As I said before, we got both Max and Sneakers from the Animal Rescue League. They were "bonded" buddies and had been returned twice. Both had been totally declawed so it couldn't be from tearing up the furniture or scratching stuff. When they are sleeping quietly, your mind starts to wonder and you wonder what kind of live they had before ? Were they mistreated ? And how happy they look sleeping in your lap. Since Max was totally black, we had some special consent form to sign. Something about we were not using him for voodo or witchcraft. There are some crazys out there for sure. We adopted Simon from the same Animal Rescue League when he was 11 months old. He had been trained and yet you wonder why were they at the adoption center. I thoght maybe Simon had been mistreated and had thraot damage because he wouldn't bark. It was almost a full year before one morning I heard him growl and then bark, we had a stranger at our door. But you have to wonder what kind of person spends the money to train a dog or surgery for claw removal, and then take them to the Rescue League ? Sorry for the ramblin, I have had great companions. NO REGRETS.
