Simon,

When I was young I was pretty much a dog person, however, my wife was a cat person. And since we were both working way back when it wasn't fair to have a dog in an apartment all day alone while we both worked.

Well we adopted a starving stray kitten and many years later we are up to number 7 and all except one were rescued cats...I guess we enjoy the punishment.....:laughing9::laughing9::laughing9:

========

Wow, seven. I am glad we got them as it taught me to open my eyes. I miss Simon greatly, but our cats have helped ease his loss. Then we lost Max. As I said before, we got both Max and Sneakers from the Animal Rescue League. They were "bonded" buddies and had been returned twice. Both had been totally declawed so it couldn't be from tearing up the furniture or scratching stuff. When they are sleeping quietly, your mind starts to wonder and you wonder what kind of live they had before ? Were they mistreated ? And how happy they look sleeping in your lap. Since Max was totally black, we had some special consent form to sign. Something about we were not using him for voodo or witchcraft. There are some crazys out there for sure. We adopted Simon from the same Animal Rescue League when he was 11 months old. He had been trained and yet you wonder why were they at the adoption center. I thoght maybe Simon had been mistreated and had thraot damage because he wouldn't bark. It was almost a full year before one morning I heard him growl and then bark, we had a stranger at our door. But you have to wonder what kind of person spends the money to train a dog or surgery for claw removal, and then take them to the Rescue League ? Sorry for the ramblin, I have had great companions. NO REGRETS.

Simon,

Yeah the political stuff can get a bit hot and heavy to say the least. The longest thread probably in the history of the forum is Crispin's critters which I've been involved with since the beginning going back about 6 years ago.

Today it's just a place like this to hang out, share jokes, music, recipes and kid around kind of like here....that's what it evolved into, however, it started out due to some very heated political discussions. I'll spare the gory details but I was embroiled right in the middle of it and my celtic blood got the better of me and I was prepared to thrash several members verbally all at once for ganging up on someone else.

Things did settle down, thankfully and I can chuckle about it now but at the time I was ready for all out war....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

Those people are tough in there and if you like some of the members real well, you may be disturbed by their views. I looked in and ran out because I want to remember the members here as a fun bunch of people. Just my two cents.

Ohhhh No!! No scented candles out there!! The only scents that go out there is gas, cigs, gear oil,etc.... No pastel walls either! The girl on the snap-on poster stays!!!! She's the woman of the garage! Her and a life size cardboard cut out of Catherine zeta Jones stay....They were there first.!!

I already LIKE your garage. Catherine Zeta Jones was a knockout !

Simon,

Thanks for the chuckles I can always count on you or Tom to come up with some off the wall humour.....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

Yes, that could be easy to do. I read a few of the posts and just shook my head. The responses from some indicate they weren't in it for the discussion part. And poor Tom. I saw a while back he posted and because he made an error or two in English grammar, he was being attacked. If those people knew Tom they would have understood, but no, they just want to argue. :BangHead:

I didn't see that.

I liked Nitric's thread, but it got too over my head. As I said upfront, I am not smart. I could be if I have the material and am required to study and then be tested. But to retain all of the information, forget it.

Ugh! Martini's are nasty!

Yours was prepared wrong. They MUST be shaken, Not stirred. Martini a.jpg or Sean Connery.jpg

Folks,

Well just to show how crazy things are getting around the time I left the Railway in 2001 the company was starting to give the guys courses on gender sensitivity or some other similar foolishness.

For example a guy making an innocent comment about a coworker dropping the ball on a project, in other words, screwing up.
Was not politically acceptable any longer because that tended to refer to mostly guys such as football, basketball or baseball seeing as how those are mostly male dominated sports.

Give me a break, thankfully I wasn't around to participate in one of those courses because I would have told the course giver be they male or female to shove that pc incorrect ball where the sun don't shine....:laughing9::laughing9::laughing9:

The last company I worked for had the same kind of meeting. Sexual harassment type meetings and how to watch what you say, just like mentioned above. Guys are guys, and they will talk if 2 are in the truck and no one is around. But..In my experience there some of the "ladies" were the worst!!!! Three of us had to go on a one day road trip from one office to to another in VA. Do some things there and drive back to akron OH. Two guys and one girl, she wanted to sit in the back and us two guys sat up front. You wouldn't believe what came out of her mouth and the stuff she was bringing up on that trip. The two of us guys kept it professional and ignored, or changed subjects on her. She would tell us how she loves to do this ad loves to do that............ Now, I'm a guy, in any other setting I would have at least egged on the conversation.:laughing7: But not at work, too much to lose, and your name is hard to clean. That was just one example, and she wasn't the only one. Sometimes I think they were set ups and depending on how we would have responded? May have been an excuse to complain or use it against us.

I was a branch manager for a warehouse distribution center and once a year we had our meeting at corporate. Our company owner "physically" lived next door to Warren Buffet and they were pretty good friends. Probably in the 1990's we had a meeting I remember because Warren Buffet sent one of his Human Resource managers to our meeting to educate us on that subject. It was a shock to learn all the things that could be considered harrasment. The list of "TRIVIAL" stuff was a mile long. And by trivial, I mean bending over to tie your shoelace could be considered sexual harrasement. ???

Nitric,

Well the vast majority of the woman that worked at the railway were pretty level headed and not a problem.

I'm guessing the company was just trying to download potential liability to the male staff members in case some gal with a chip on her shoulder complained about some guys behaviour.

The company's response would have been "not our fault we sent the guys" on these gender sensitivity/sexual harrasement courses if they misbehave they're on their own.....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

I'm not even caught up with the thread...We are jumping back and forth to the pinball machine...My son got one about a month ago from grandma.....But I think Mom and I play it the most!:laughing7:

Women don't have a monopoly on it anymore. If a guy sees a chance to make a few bucks by a lawsuit, they go for it. When there were no caps on a lawsuit, people were sue crazy. They still are, but the monetary figures seem to have peaked :dontknow:
