Brent Weisman, an archaeologist with the Florida Division of Historical Resources. 'Only thing is he's a fictional character that never existed. It should be clear to everyone now it's fictional.'

lol.

And this guy is an Arch with the State. :/
The Jose Gaspar/ Gasparilla legend was created in 1904 by a Tampa Tribune society editor, Mary Louise Dodge, to create a Bay area "Marti Gras"
Juan Gomez built upon this fake history expanding the legend for his own purposes.

lol.

You must had missed the post I made an hour ago in an older thread concerning Gaspar.

THIS IS... the made up story. heh

They "used" it... but none the less has nothing to do with Gaspar.

There is a very good reason that this "legend"... IS... a legend.

In fact... had certain individuals who were behind the "burying" of Gaspars career had their way... there would not even been a legend.

...and you have hard documented evidence beyond the lore and tales of Juan Gomez that Jose Gaspar actually existed?

Listen.. ECS...

I a too impatient to engage in a discussion with you... your response time to any statements I make is grueling...

Really... you must learn to type with more than 2 fingers and check everything twice before posting.

:)

:P

Deleted last post due to watching a very good part of a movie... and typing...

So I will just "simplify" my answer to your question with a simple "yes".

I will add though...

It is NOT simple... NOR "singular".

I will add...

Present day "Gasparilla Island" is / was NOT "his"... NOR "the" island so named after the "legend"... no where close.

Yes, there is always a conspiracy that buries the "truth" behind legends, lore, and tall tales, ALWAYS! :laughing7:
Can you disprove that Mary Louise Dodge was the creator of the Gasparilla story?
...or that certain treasure hunters destroyed legitimate historical sites like Native American burial mounds looking for Gaspar's illusory treasure based on the "created history" of Tampa Tribune society editor Dodge?

if you are storing a lot of heavy stuff, put it over load bearing walls,
if not, you may crack your sheet rock. been there and done that.
good luck on your projects, thanks, marion

The evidence has existed for over a hundred years...
Archival evidence of a "cover up" and "twisting" and "sweeping under the rug".
What's weird is... why me ?
Why is it me that worked this out ?...

NOW... as far as a "Treasure" goes... who knows if that exists at all.
Saying and proving are not quite the same, in the end, legends, lore, tall tales remain legends, lore, and tall tales.

i guess i'll just lurk

Tom,

Yes I remember seeing the other video also. I seem to recall when the videos were first posted there were some doubters saying that it wasn't legit. My counter argument was simple I told them who in their right mind would spend $100,000 or so buying collector grade coins and place them in the river to get tarnished, etc....lol.

On a side note I'll be at a group hunt in June in Toronto that the Canadian Detecting Forum is involved with and Beau Ouimette will be there as an attendee small world indeed....lol.

Regards + HH

Bill

...

The world is so small... :laughing7:

did you saw the other videos where he finds the coins in the river?
I told him years ago to make a chart so he can figure out where they exactly was placed before they got washed to the river. Makes sense to search the land in this area too. May there is more to find.

Love his videos. Specially the underwater hunting videos.
Once he found a camera and the SD card was still working. The camera catched the moment when it falls in the river :laughing7:

Tom,

I'm familiar with Chicago Ron also. Several years ago him and a buddy in Chicago hit a beach where the storm waves had was lots of sand away and they found an awful lot of gold and silver at that time.

Hmmm...

Ya know... coffee after coffee for 6 hours... then soda for 6... and then rum for 6.

I feel great since cutting back to this new fluid intake schedule :)

Bill,

you have to watch the the castle torture chamber video Beu Quimette and chillBill made in France!
Btw: Watch very carfuly for the **skirt scene in it !! :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7:
Best you download it and watch it frame for frame....

Anyway, they find in a very small prison chamber several skeletons, a nice 16 or 17 century flask and other stuff.
They let a new diving robot with camera down and record everything. A real nice video!
