What rook said.:laughing7: I still don't know what half of the knobs do on my detector. All I know is if I fiddle with this one, or monkey with that one, I find stuff. That's all that matters to me!

I've had the MXT. First, set the disc. to the first arrow which discs out foil and junk(I'll come back to that) then pump the coil (not the way you may think) about 4 to 6 inches off of the ground. That sets the ground balance. If it doesn't, you may be over a piece of iron or trash. If you are over iron, move to a clean place, repeat ground balance. On the MXT, set you disc. to around the nickel arrow. That's norm. If you have the factory coil, Now if you are looking for gold rings and such, lower the disc. to 0. All metal. Rings run in low mineralization around 15 to 22 on the MXT. I know this is a short memo but it depends on so much as to the soil conditions and settings. You have a really good machine.

Darn RR

Lol, thanks, Rook! I'm one of those kinds of guys that just fiddles with something until it works.

Good night RR.

I also am going to turn in, before i fall over.
....there should be a bunch of comments on that in the morning. Lol

Good night crew mates, steady as she goes [emoji99] [emoji99]

So you trying something different tonight? :D

You could probably download the manual for that machine if it is lost.

Yep you can download the manual but time out with the machine is priceless.
The manual doesn’t know what ground conditions, mineralization, moisture or swing habits a person
has. The manual is more for settings and swing advice.

Just to expand a bit on what RR said below...yep when the soil is nice and wet you get increased depth because of the added conductivity of the wet soil. The metal detector give off a signal and when it hits a metal object it bounces back so to speak sort of like an echo chamber this is an over simplification of how it works just trying to explain the technology in lawman's terms.

Wet ground, especially saturated ground is best. You will hear signals you've never heard before in ground that has been rained on. I don't know the science behind it, but it works. But don't let this discourage you from metal detecting when it's dry. By all means, detect in all kinds of weather. You'll hear different things in different situations.

Lawman's terms?
You're gettin serious now Uncle!

Let's see...Yup. It's wet alright.:laughing7:
