Morning folks.d77e2b6ed4637cf95bbff5bc07b26c51.gif. Good to see y'all again.

Morning Simon, bill, WD, Tom and anyone else lurking.

Here's a recipe with history:

Muster Cookies

In New England before the Civil War, the first Tuesday of June was set aside as Muster or Training Day. One food carried in picnic baskets to the training field was muster "gingerbread," actually a large, soft molasses cookie.

For 2 dozen large cookies:
1/2 c. soft butter
1/2 c. dark brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1/4 c. each molasses and sour cream
2 c. whole wheat flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp each cinnamon and ginger

Prep:
1. Cream together butter, brown sugar and egg, until fluffy
2. Beat in molasses. Add sour cream
3. Mix flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and ginger. Stir into first mixture until well blended.
4. Drop by slightly-rounded tablespoonfuls, 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets.
Bake at 375 degrees F for 12 to 15 minutes or until browned.
Remove at once to wire racks to cool. Store airtight or freeze.
