Okay it warmed up a little so I went to a permission and scraped up .32 and a piece of a fossil.

WD,

What's the descrimination setting your using on your machine? That the meaning of disc. if you knock out some of the lower range of targets you might miss the odd keeper but dig way less junk.

It's a matter of preference really since most my sites are pounded to death I just knock out iron. This year I'll probably even dig the iron signals.

Another factor of descriminating the lower range is you risk loosing some depth and there's a nulling out factor which comes into play. Let's say you knock out pulltabs there's a good chance you pass over gold rings also which quite often fall in the range.

Are you confused yet because I can give you some more confusing info if you want....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

What does that mean?

i am always confused, Bill.

I haven’t quite figured this detector out. Too many bells and whistles for me I think. This particular spot is mostly gravel so I don’t/can’t dig very deep. And if my pinpointer doesn’t get a signal I don’t bother. I thought I notched out the iron, but it still gives the “donk “ sound and I just can’t resist.

This particular spot, well, let’s just say that there’s a lot of trash! Part of the reason they gave me permission. I’m not digging, more like scraping with my claw garden tool. There’s a lot of coins too. And there’s an area that long ago was a junk yard but I haven’t even got close to it yet. I’m concentrating on where the money should be.

Ok this next series of pics is especially for bart. I think, since his brother-in-law is in the rum business, he might see how things are different.
