More Road America from the C.A.R.T. race of ought-six.

Katherine Legg crashed in "The Kink", the turn right before "Canada Korner" where my older brother and I were seated. I'll never forget the looks of dread on other peoples faces. The kink is the fastest turn on the track. You do not want to crash in the kink. Could not see the wreck from where we were, but heard about it on the loudspeaker.



See that section with the front suspension still attached? Her body was inside that section.


Ater the ambulance went racing by, they brought her car out past Canada Corner bagged up on five different trucks! We all started praying cause we all figured we were going to her funeral that week. An hour latter she was walking, talking and giving interviews with a smile on her face. Hardly a scratch on her!
