QUESTIONABLE INFORMATION POSTED AS FACT CONCERNING THE BEALE TALE

Thanks Eldo for contributing additional questionable information posted as fact.
While mentioning the Otey family, another high questionable version concerns Sheriff Otey and the Luck's massacre of Thomas Read at the Overstreet Tavern as the basis of the Beale story.
That version is similar to the undelivered "key letter" version, where George Radar Brugh was murdered at the Blackhorse Tavern by Ebenezer Helms.

One should just take a photo of a large rock, then photoshop the image to appear as a rocky mountain, then claim that they found the “beales codes vault” that is only accessible by them.

That story line would fit well here....

Perhaps if the laginas would develop a show around the beale codes the mystery would finally be revealed...

It would just be another never ending non-reality made for TV drama loaded with more baseless speculations and wild supposition. :laughing9: Look, 200 years have passed since the alleged Beale party adventure and to date nobody can even establish the existence of the Thomas Beale portrayed in the pamphlet, probably good reason for that. We also know that many of the details in the alleged letters and pamphlet couldn't have possibly taken place, just more cold hard fact that is apparently too difficult for some to accept, and yet they must if they are really striving for the truth behind the tale. Opinions are one thing, but those cold hard facts will always be there to keep things from running off of the rails, as is so common and so easily achieved when it comes to treasure tales.

"To the 275 Cleft where the Dixie 247 lay
On solid stone, making the vault's concrete seal
And Dixie confirmed the 1.43 landmark is real
Time is nigh for the Beale Mystery reveal"

Another addition for the questionable information posted as fact list.

Let us not forget the Jackson Ward Alderman of Richmond, Thomas J Beale , a free born man of color, that was linked to the Beale story due to the description of Beale and the mention of Richmond in the original Beale Papers of 1885.
Or the really far fetched concerning Mathew "Mexico" Sherman, a relative of John William Sherman, printer of the Beale Papers, who was the Captain of Patterson's ship, TORPEDO, and ran opium and guns for Stephen Girard...
Or the French "connexion" of Lallemand and Champ 'd Asile as the source of the Beale story.
It is amazing how a would be obscure dime novel pamphlet of 1885, if not for the Innis book, has generated so many speculative alternative version as the "actual" basis of the Beale perilous adventure treasure tale.
More for the list.

Robert Morriss was related to Robert Morris Jr, signer of the DOI.
The Fine Arts Building on 600 Main St was the Morriss house where Beale stayed.
Indians observed from a distance the kiln fires that the Beale Party utilized to smelt the ore.
Once smelted gold and silver was made into bars by sand box casting.
The gold was about 60% or 14K, the silver little more pure.
The gold and silver bars were transported in false bottom wagons.
To cross Big Otter Creek, the bars had to be unloaded and placed on pack mules.
The treasure was placed in 30 gal salt Boone's Salt Works brine pots.
The "key letter" was never delivered because of a St Louis flood.
...and so on.
None of what is listed above is mentioned in the original source of THE BEALE PAPERS.
The BIG list of questionable information posted as fact

A legitimate question to whether or not James Beverly Ward's granddaughter and sons or great granddaughter could add more to the statement made by Ward's great grandson, Gorham B Walker, to Lt Thomas Fawcett where he "admitted having a copy of the Beale Papers in which he placed no credence...and thought undoubtedly Mr Ward was the true author of the Beale Papers".
He wasn't...

The 1885 BEALE PAPERS job print pamphlet type were set by hand, NOT by typewriter.
The first typewriter type machine was produced in 1886 by the MERGENTHALER LINOTYPE CO.
The Virginia Print Shop did not possess a Mergenthaler.

Pauline Innis was NOT related to the Harts.
Born Pauline Bertha Lee-Jones, December 8, 1917, in Torquay, South Devon, England, she was an only child. While not related to the Harts, she was related to Agatha Christie.
As an only child, it was NOT her brother, but her cousin, the Right Rev Lawrence E Luscombe, Primus of the Episcopal Church of Scotland.

George Radar Brugh was NOT the proprietor of the Planters Hotel in St Louis during the alleged stay of Thomas J Beale, NOR was he murdered at the Blackhorse Tavern by Ebenezer Nelms while attempting to deliver Beale's "key" letter to Robert Morriss.
Evarist Maury was the Planters Hotel proprietor from 1822-1832.
Brugh's portrait hung in the lobby of the Planters Hotel up to the 1950's.
The Planters Hotel ceased being a hotel in 1922, when it was converted into offices and renamed THE COTTON BELT BUILDING.
*NOTE* The Planters Hotel as well as the "J" in Beale's name was first mentioned in THE HART PAPERS story.
Additional misinformation should remind you of who.
