Probably everybody that has posted on here over the years has made a find that they thought might have made the banner, but for one reason or another they slipped by. This is not a thread for complaining it just happens, perhaps the find never received enough votes, or perhaps the story line was not good enough, could be a number of reasons.

I haven't posted a thread for a while, so a chance to look back at some of my finds, and others from over the years. I have had my share of banners so I can't complain really, but I must admit I thought some were a no brainer, and some unlikely to make it up top.

I'll start with one that I thought was a no brainer, but didn't go up top despite probably being one of the rarest of my finds. A key dating back to the 9th century and most likely from the Viking/Saxon period.

46g Platinum ring. I've put a normal size ring next to it for reference. No banner. :-( lol

Real hard making the banner if I don't post anything!

My house is full of banner finds.....

I never saw this. Its easily one of the most amazing relics I've ever seen posted on TNET. Back flips all the way back to the car. Then again from the car to the house. Jeez.

2 8 reales found in the same hole on the same day. Both found 5-6 months before I joined the net, disqualifying them from banner board. Ended up mounting the cob and I ware it everyday. photo-9.JPG
The pillar dollar 8 reale is such a rare and valuable date that I could not mount it and risk losing 1 of only a few in the world. Ive had some incredible offers for it.photo.JPGphoto-2.JPGphoto-3.JPG

Scrappy!!! We LOVE all of these! Especially the gold coin, ring, and WW2 piece! Congrats infinity! -Lisa & John
That wound Badge is an Awesome find! I am sure a trophy from WW2
I have found many banner worthy things as well but not in the dirt! Including 3 pounds of silver coins for free! (My favorite four letter word that starts with F) It was at Yard Sales
2 years ago I was at a sale and the lady had a Red (Crown royal style) Bag chock full of these Badges, panzer badges, Luftwaffe badges, swazi bars, patches, cap emblems, swazi Iron Crosses, Campaign medals etc... Bought the lot for 10 bucks. Sold it for 3K!

Yes I did dig it

What is the model and serial number if you don't mind? you can leave off the last three nums if you are not comfortable. I would like to determine the yer it was made. I collect rolexes.
Cheers and awesome find!

Here is mine.... at the time, I really wanted a banner, now I don't care so much...anyway... I had to work hard for this tag, I mean anyone with connections can go to a bonafide plantation down here and find a tag (riiiight)..... I was digging trough trash at a place where everyone else had given up on the site.... a Civil War dated slave tag, Porter 1863, next to the last year they were made. Usually, slave tags go straight to the top.

O Well, not that time, maybe because it was in such bad shape :icon_scratch:, or my "story" wasn't good enough... the Servant tag was an old find from the late 80's... not really part of my banner desire since it happened so long ago but I can't find the other pictures.....

Link to the original.... it did get some love and a few votes... meh!
