Any chance is there a website or youtube that explains how to fill out the California blm paperwork? Or an example of the paperwork already filled out? I have been looking through the BLM's 58 page mining packet but I am just as lost as ever. =) I have the location etc. But still not sure how to fill out the land section diagram below.

Use Arc GIS or some other mapping system that can show PLS. Township and Range are the huge square. Every square up is another digit north, and same for east (example 4N 5E).

From there locate the section number which starts in the top right, goes left, and snakes down inside the township range Square. From there get the quarter section, such as southeast quarter etc.

For placer you can list is such as south 1/2 of the NW corner in the northeast quarter section. You basically get 1/2 of a quarter of a quarter section which is 20 acres. Hopefully that makes sense. It’s confusing at first but gets really easy after a time or two.

Example if you were claiming the south 1/2 of Northwest Northwest in section 24
