This is my best copper: 1793 George Washington Ship Halfpenny. I dug it in a sloppy cornfield. :icon_thumleft:

Don't be shy, guys, and post that awesome copper! Tell us what kind of site it was dug at.

Keep the passion high!

Ya the snow here is killing me...I cant wait to get back out there.

This one was a shocker..It was in great shape right from the ground..Although it has some issues im happy with it ;D
You sure this is dug? Holy cow, looks like it was lost yesterday. Best looking dug I've ever seen.
Thanks bearbqd...I couldnt believe it myself...7 inches deep in the woods by a cellar hole.

Vermont pack rat your coin was really neat since is was a 1799 first then they stamped 1800 over 1799.

18 zero zero party party over its out of time tonight were going to party like its 17 ninety nine.

Silver seacher what type of coin was that? Sorry to hear it was sick. :BangHead:

Here is another dug one that is in great conditon, one of my best Half Cents, 1804 Spiked Chin variety, funny thing is, found a second one within a few feet of this one, same year, different variety, but it was nowhere near as good of condition. (Hmmmm, maybe too much deer peeing over the second one ;D)

Added another Half Cent that has better detail, an 1805, this one was found thanks to ATV'ers tearing up an old sandy road and in the top of those mogul like humps that form I got a great reading, thought for sure it was a bottle cap or some other junk since someone illegally dumped years ago right next to where I was, but no, it was a great looking Half Cent....

Amazing finds everyone :hello2:
My best as far as rare date would be an 1804 LG Cent AG condition. I posted that one
in the Coins forum. My best one condition wise would be this 1821 found about 1 foot
from the 1804. Sure hope i have a few more days like that in the future.

Dug 7 years ago in Ma. Actually "brassy" copper , but I guess it qualifies. After repeated calls to PCGS, 2 or more graders looked at it, and confirmed it was a piece of "HOGGE" money. If it was of "questionable" authenticity, it would have been given that qualifier, along with the numerical classification. Details can only be seen under magnification. 1 of only 4 known specimens, to be found on the North American continent. The other 3 were found on a beach in Maine. There are about 200 specimens, of Sommers Island, known. This is a thin planchet, Large Porthole, Six Pence. Because of "Environmental Damage", it didn't go through the complete grading cycle, and was shipped back in a "body bag".

I know its not as old as some posted already, but this is my best dug copper. It was found at an old abandonded park from the 1800's. This site actually turned out to be one of the best sites I have hunted in 15 years. My buddy had a sheet for 4 free gradings from ICG, so I sent it in and it came back AU-50 details/corroded. It is the best dug FE I have seen. Happy hunting in 2010 everyone! Time for my research. I'll be snowed in until atleast Feburary.

Justin

I don't dig many, and this one is nothing special. It is in decent shape, however.
