I had mentioned in my post from Monday that the lake bottom sand had been really pushed around and uneven, so I figured I had better go and see what got exposed in the areas I missed then.
Well, I missed a lot!
One of the very first targets was in a bunch of rocks where there is normally just deep sand. It was pretty tough getting the rocks to move. They were golf ball to cantaloupe sized and kind of embedded. I finally got enough moved out of the way to get a scoop in the sand and couldn't believe my eyes when I looked in the scoop!
My first seated coin is a 1876 quarter made into a wearable!

There were quite a few targets to dig and I spent almost six hours in the water. Super fun day in the lake!

All that fun right under this calm water!

a unique find. Congratulations

Thats a really cool find OMR! One would think it would be tarnished black if in the water for 100 years or more, so could be a recent loss?
Excellent job and congratulations!

Congratulations on your first seated coin. And a really unique one at that. Lake Tahoe is a beautiful place. Guess the rocks and gravel kept the coin from getting enough oxygen to tarnish. The 1890 seated I found wedged between rocks and gravel in an area that's underwater except at low tide came out with similar luster. The seated from the beach there itself is rather tarnished. The nice fresh water of tahoe helps too.

Wow! Who knew that something like that would show up in the scoop.
Congratulations.

Is the ring just a costume jewelry piece?

Trying to think it being a wearable.
In the water.
Belly button stud plug.

Thanks!
I've pulled a few silvers out of Lake Tahoe, including a 1924 silver dollar, and they all came out of the water untarnished.

Thanks Pepper, it sure shocked me!

The ring is titanium.

Belly button stud plug? Ewwww, I hope not!
Thinking maybe it was worn in a buttonhole of a coat or jacket. :dontknow:
