I agree! I hear people go on and on about Zouave buttons, but I find these buttons at Civilian sites with NO other war relics found. (And I think this is the case most of the time when others find them too.) Even ones found in a CW camp are not necessarily "Zouave buttons"--since they are so common as civilian buttons. We wouldn't call regular flat button found around a CW site a "27th Virginia Infantry Button."

These are "ball buttons" or "globe buttons." Civilian.

circa 1800 give or take 20 years or so
