No news yet as far as I can tell. Still awaiting depositions in the UK. It does seem to be taking longer than I would have expected but I don't have any real info on how long these processes usually take.

On March 25th, without providing any notice to Odyssey's attorneys, the English Court set aside their previous order at the request of UK’s Government Legal Department on behalf of the DfT and the RoW. Given the lack of cooperation on this matter from the DfT and the RoW, Odyssey has asked the US judge to issue a summary judgement and award them a salvage award for the 526 silver bars recovered from the Mantola. Odyssey would then hope to use this judgement as the basis for further action against the RoW and DfT, as I imagine they wouldn't just hand the bars over to Odyssey willingly.

It sounds as if the Dft and the Row are trying their damn best to weasel out of giving anything to Odyssey including the name of the unknown Salvor. It appears that if Odyssey gets the Judgement they want from the U.S. Judge, they will still end up in the World Court. Is that what you see?

Yes. Seems like Odyssey would have more success if they sued Swire for breach of contract and used that for their fishing expedition, but maybe that is a bridge they don't want to burn yet.

Although they are probably certain who the unknown Salvor was that salvaged the Silver Bars, they likely need 100% irrefutable evidence from the Dft and/or Row that Swire was indeed the Salvor to move on with a suit against all parties involved.

A summary judgement against whom?
Was it proven when the recovery was made?
I thought that was the reason for the interrogatories to the RoW and DfT?
Didnt the US Court already shut this down and kick it over to the UK?

hahaha, now you admit to a fishing expedition by Odyssey! Using the Court to fish....thats not what the Courts are for.

The US Court is giving Odyssey 30 days to file a motion seeking exclusive salvage rights and a salvage award for the Mantola. One of the main issues that the Court has and that Odyssey will need to address is that the UK claims the Silver was found April 30, 2017 while the Court's in rem order was not granted until May 1, 2017. Odyssey will need to show that the Silver was actually recovered after the Court's order and not before. So it seems that Odyssey may have missed out by a couple of days. They could still pursue a breach of contract suit against Swire though.

To update, The Judge could not grant Odyssey a salvage award for the silver recovered from the Mantola because there were too many unknown pieces of information that were unable to be obtained due to the lack of help from the British Government and so the case was dismissed without prejudice. As predicted, Odyssey has now decided to go after Swire and some of its employees who they claim may have misrepresented the circumstances surrounding the removal of silver from the Mantola to the RoW. They are hoping to obtain this information as soon as possible as Swire is said to be suspending operations at the end of February.

Interestingly, one of the people Odyssey has asked to depose in their case is Anthony Clake who is a partner at the hedge fund Marshall Wace in London, and is believed to be the main shareholder of Ocean Infinity which led the search for MH370 and previously used the same Swire ships that Odyssey believes were used to recover the Mantola silver. Odyssey believes that Clake was the individual responsible for directing the recovery.

On March 30th, Odyssey voluntarily dismissed their admiralty case against the Mantola after agreeing to an undisclosed settlement with the salvor of the silver.
