Nugent nails it

Treasure hunter tells me that the police DO NOT protect people - their only legal duty is to solve crime. Now I don't believe that but it comes straight from TH's mouth so I have yo believe that it is the truth. Maybe someone can clarify?

It is not out of my mouth, your argument is with the U.S. Supreme Court because they have ruled on several occasions that the police do not have a duty to protect individual citizens ........

"It is well-settled fact of American law that the police have no legal duty to protect any individual citizen from crime, even if the citizen has received death threats and the police have negligently failed to provide protection."

Sources: 7/15/05 SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES No. 04-278 TOWN OF CASTLE ROCK, COLORADO, PETITIONER v. JESSICA GONZALES, INDIVIDUALLY AND AS NEXT BEST FRIEND OF HER DECEASED MINOR CHILDREN, REBECCA GONZALES, KATHERYN GONZALES, AND LESLIE GONZALES

According to the US Supreme Court decision in Warren v. District of Columbia in 1981, the police do not have the duty to provide protection and services to individuals except under specific assignments.

Since the police do not have a duty to protect individual citizens it is the right of individual citizens to protect ourselves......

And I'll never see a penny of mine. Your entitlements have bankrupted this country. Funny how we all hate gov spending and programs unless we are directly benefiting. Then we feel like it is an entitlement. And we got the AARP to make sure we keep putting ourselves more and more into debt and not deal with the problem.

Funny how all of a sudden a so called conservative can sound like a big gov social program person when it's their money on the line. If you want gov out of our lives stop taking those checks.

We have been paying in to those programs since before you were born, we are owed what is there, I have paid in over $100,000 of MY money alone. Just give me the money I paid in, compounded for the last 51 years, that doesn't take into consideration the $100,000 my employers paid in on MY behalf......................

Come back and whine after you paid in for 51 years...............

I see, so you feel entitled to that money. I pay hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in taxes and see nothing for it at all. Welcome to the real world.

Since the max you can pay in SS tax this year is $7000 based on max $113,000 taxable income and just for an examble number an income of $300,000, that is another $4000 in medicare so a total of $11,000 combined for SS and medicare, so if your paying hundreds of thousands, your paying it in income and state taxes......

By the way, I have been working and living in the real world since before you were born.......I have been contributing for over 51 years since starting to work at age 13 after schools and on weekends to help my mom since my parents were divorced.

In 806 days 14 hours and some odd minutes ( if I was counting :laughing7:) at the age of 66 I will start drawing the max SS payout allowable each month incase it makes paying your taxes easier knowing where your money is going...........

I am glad I don't pay SS. Taxes anymore! I pay into maine state retirement instead. And when I leave this position I can roll the money into a ira instead of having the govt. Just keep it....

Wow, no need to get so confrontational and personal. Just making a very simple point. And yes it is in fed and state taxes.

Just making the simple point that folks should not be too hasty to throw the world socialism etc around when many of you are recipients of the worlds biggest socialist program. Yes and I'm sure you feel like you deserve to he getting every penny (boy I here that from many on the left). And before anyone says its their money - you are getting way more out of these programs esp Medicare and presc drug than you ever put in. In case you missed it, this is a big reason why the country is going bankrupt.

And as good red blooded purely capitalist Americans I know you will tear up all those ss checks along with your Medicare cards and prescription drug program (courtesy of bush) card and not become part of this terrible socialist society.

And in the end good for you. In this political system some get the big stick some draw the small. Your generation was able to push through lavish spending programs and limited. In the future we won't be as fortunate. It is what it is.

Best

I remember as a teen listening to Double Live Gonzo, my buddies mom made him destroy that album-
I grew up in Southern Michigan, Ted's stomping ground. They can't stand him around here, especially a lot of the hunters. They say Ted is far from being any kind of patriot, and according to Ted,

Seems he is pretty well liked to me.........

snopes.com .....a website about rumors and urban legends......how much trust do you put in a website like that? Just saying....

snookered huh? Lets see.... the majority of media leans to the left, just who is being mislead? Not to mention the phessers.

HA! Ppl are "snookered" ALL the time...

I agree, but sometimes the one doing the "snookering" is actually Snopes. It is usually accurate, but they've been caught at it before and will be again.

For instance, what's his name said that the Affordable Health Care Act would DEFINITELY NOT increase the deficit.

Snopes won't touch that one with a ten foot pole because it goes against their political bend.
