Why not let the feds have at 'em? And even so, no matter what the pit was, if it was worked the same problem exists. Ergo, nothing about enforcement would change, right? If the feds 'would have to get involved' then they should have been already. It has obviously been worked, right? Take another cut at that idea.See Cat,
The problem is that the moment they say they found the LDM, that's the end of the show. HAHAHA Sort of like how big pharmaceutical companies don't want to cure cancer. They want to find the right combination of drugs that will let you live with it. That way they keep selling you drugs. As soon as there is a cure for cancer, Big Pharma loses a crap-ton of money.
Also, publicly saying that The Pit Mine is the LDM would mean a couple of BIG things:
1. It was in the SWA (Superstition Wilderness Area), where it is highly illegal to mine. If that was publicly stated, then the Feds would have to get involved in finding out who had anything to do with it.
2. People would want proof. Since 1891 (when Waltz died), the LDM has been "found" a few hundred times by a bunch of different people. If anybody had any of the actual proof....... see #1.
