new show on the dutchman

They don't even care about that; the bottom line is the dollar.

If you were to ask Julie Auerbach of GGL (who is in charge of creative content) to point to the map of the US and locate the Superstitions, she will probably point to Colorado. She is only interested in buying content that GGL by consensus, thinks has a better than average rate of success.

The creative behind LSM look at shows such as "Ax Men" or "Gold Rush" replete with drama, and attempt to repeat that same formula, assuming that the rate of success will be high because they are repeating something that has worked in the past.

Every reality show for the last 20 years is basically a repeat of the original "Survivors" show which is considered to be responsible for the explosion of reality shows since the late '90's.

I think combining history and reality TV is just a bad combination. That's trying to reach across too wide a demo.

Deducer you are correct and it is all about the money.

Sure when Gold Rush came out I watched the first years season. the next year, I watched it again. I didn't even watch the 3rd year because I found it to be ridiculous, I quit watching it because of several things, particularly stupid drama. Sure many people may like that sort of stuff and find it entertaining. The only one I was interested in seeing before I quit watching it all together was Parker. Yeah, he is young, not as experienced but at least he didn't have the mentality of the Hoffmans drama, and it was a good showing Parker and his grandfather.

Yeah, also I feel for the Hoffman's crew. I wouldn't trust Jack Hoffman to be counting out the gold in hiding all by his lonesome self, especially if I was to get a cut of it! But that is not my deal! Before Gold Rush, Jack had some pretty shady deals he had going and it isn't that hard to find out the info on him. And it certainly would not fall under "trustworthy"!

But I had not watched Gold Rush since 2012 and that ought to say something. Sure I love seeing gold, who doesn't? I certainly have no interest in watching Honey Boo Boo, Appalachian Outlaws, Naked and Afraid, Amish Mafia, etc, or any of those shows. I would much rather watch an old western or read up on some real treasure hunting, but hey, that is just me!

The issue for me is that filming or taking photographs for commercial purposes in Wilderness Areas without a permit is illegal. Yet many of the search areas for the treasures I have an interest in are within Wilderness Areas. Take the Lost Carson Mine for example somewhere in the Needle Mountains south of Silverton, CO. Other members have already expressed an interest in joining with me to search for it. Its very high in elevation, and access is only possible about 3 months out of the year.

Such a topic would be perfect for an expedition to film a not-for-profit documentary on. And you wouldn't see any gasping flatlanders with half empty day packs going on such an expedition. They wouldn't make it through the first day without a helicopter ride to the emergency room. You would only find hardened individuals who are acclimated to the high elevation and capable of carrying at least 100 pounds up steep, rocky slopes with no trails at all. THAT is the kind of film project I would like to do, and also see for entertainment on my screen created by others. No concocted superstitious myths to fear, no tales of Apache boogie men, no signs to see in every crack and natural formation, just committed people in search of a lost treasure high in the mountains where few people ever venture.

is this cartoon over yet? Old guys scared and repeating lines from Vietnam era movies - "I'm not leaving the boat... Never get out of the boat." Bat **** crazy people barfing and climbing repaired 1970s era ladders? All we need now is an Acme anvil and a coyote..

So when we leaving? :icon_scratch:

Could any of you experienced DH's PM geolocations / coordinates to the part of the series where they find the black hands from the "BLACK LEGION". I'd like to go out within the next few days and see / photograph those in person.

Hoping you guys recognize that area!

Thanks

Check your PM's

Got my information - thanks so much everyone.

I'll have some photo / video of the black hand area - medicine wheel and various camp sites within the next 5-10 days.

P.S. I know from my bat cave expedition, folks were telling me to be careful, go prepared etc. I go out with a group of 5guys, including me, one of which is my brother whom is an Army Sniper home for a few weeks and brings his beautiful AR-15.

We've had rain the past few days, so probably some time mid next week. No slip & slides for me!

I think those of us who are motivated to do so should create videos about treasure tales we have an interest in that we post for free online just to educate people, not to make money with.

I'm attempting to accommodate your request. I have 74 minutes of upload going on U Tube. It's not a professional video and It's kind of long probably boring and doesn't show much. But it's what you wanted. This way to the treasure spend wisely. It probably won't be that great I never sent it in anywhere I was going to start a Treasure Show like Survivor Man sort of a short series that gives some insight into shadow and sun signs free for all to watch. 61 minutes remaining on the upload I'll need to continue this tomorrow.

I have a series of videos very crude and very rough not very exciting.

You'll probably laugh your ass off.

There's already a bunch of those on YouTube. You'll find that many of the videos are reminiscent of the text posts on this forum - full of inaccuracies, speculations and unsupported theories. That said, there are also some pretty good ones that present photographic evidence without too much editorializing. Your Lost Carson project would be very interesting to a lot of people not familiar with that local story. Drone videos of the terrain would be great, but I imagine difficult to obtain in the higher reaches of the Needles.

I didn't feel right posting on a thread that I didn't fully read.
I guess it has taken about 5 days for me to get thru this.
I think the show is very entertaining and interesting.
I feel the show at times is edited using different places than where we may think they are at, or where they have just said they were at.
Yeah a few planted props but hey its TV.
Often times the editors are not present at the time of filming so there is that.
The drone subtopic/off topic posts are informative and I was glad some experts were able to chime in on the current capabilities of the drones.
I think is is great we have eager folks to put the boots on the ground to experience the areas in the show and comment on them.
As far as the actors/members in the show, as many of you know them and can testify to their character I applaud them and feel a bit sorry for them as I know if they had direct input in the editing the show it would be more interesting to us but not the 'Honey Boo Boo crowd' who buys the stuff presented on the commercials.
I hope there is a season two and I hope to meet some of the cast of the show someday.

There may be a lot of video's on you tube but this ones mine I made it don't you recognize the resemblance? I know I shaved the stash.

I have a series of these I made in 2009 this is just one of them. I have others on the Treasure Skulls and "A" Mapping systems from the Stone Maps. I'll upload some more onto you tube for viewing but not on this thread this is about the Legends of the Superstitions I was just showing that people do free video's for Treasure Hunting as I'm one of them just haven't uploaded any publicly until now. Most aren't willing to share any knowledge of what they find. I've found enough to not be afraid showing some of it. If I do anymore I'll use my Drone Camera for aerial shots.

Drones

Have you guys seen that new Drone that climbs rock walls?
Just heard about it today in Korea.
It's a Drone with wheels that they're developing for window cleaning and other applications.

AWSOME!
